300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Open the cd

bin and pull out the holder, insert it back in the holder and slide the door closed. Then with the key on to start, turn the radio on and off several times. Now see if the changer is in comm with the head unit.Sometimes they fail to sync with each other.
if not ,have your radio code handy and disc the neg cable and step on the brakes a few times to reset the system and re hook up the neg cable, sync your windows, enter the radio code and you should be good to go.

What he said. But I get it from time to time, and I just turn the car off, pop the trunk, pull out the holder and snap it back in, then start the car. Problem always solved.

Dealer insisted we needed a new CD changer ($400). I'm not sure what they would have wanted for the install. This seemed like B.S., as I was pretty sure it was mearly a communication issue. Thanks to you & your expertise, we now have a working CD changer again. You deserve that BOW...

I had the same problem and was able to fix it the same way - for a while. Finally it just wouldn't work anymore and I had to replace it.

I also have the "No CD Changer" problem, and was able to correct it, temporarily by removing the CD Cassette and the re-inserting it. But, now a new problem has occurred. The CD Cassette will not eject from the unit when I press the eject button. Any suggestions before I head off to the friendly dealer?

La Jolla Audio out of Cali. Google it. They will take care of you just fine. I fixed mine there for like $275 or so last year.

I appreciate the information. Did you have this exact problem with your CD changer before you had fixed it? If not, what was wrong with yours?

I'm not sure I want to spend that kind of money just to fix the CD player.

I had the exact same message on my radio, and the CDs would not play or recognize that I put the magazine in. I talked with the guy that fixes them and it is actually a defect with these Benz CD changers. It occurs pretty often, and the life of the changers are anywhere between 3 and 5 years. After that they quit. My mom's changer in her W215 just quit, and I have to fix hers as well. Poor Benz quality prior to 2007 sucks. Gotta fix it or get a new one.

I recently fixed the "no magazine" problem that had for over a year by means of making it run with the cover removed and wiggling with some of the exposed levers and gears - just a little bit. It run like a charm for over two weeks and now have this other issue of not being able to eject magazine.

I'll find some time this week to open it up again and will post back.

Cheers

There is power. The green eject light on button does light up but it will not eject.

Thanks Britrover, I had already seen it but mine does not have that angled optical plug but a straight one that fits OK. I guess this is a revised plug, so the problem must reside elsewhere.

Cheers.

Here's the La Jolla Audio link. This will fix the CD changer properly because the problem lies in some internal components no longer working. There are temporary solutions out there, but this will work.
