Exclamation Help Please!! Trans or what??

My trans dont kickdown,at any time.1996 E320 119,000 milles.Trans flush done.kickdown switch is new,Cable is new,adjusment back and foward and nothing happen,any help please.When you are at the light and take off the car will shift 1,2,3,4,to fast,by the time you need to kickdown to pass other car that will never happen,will stay in 4 gear. What you think Keep the old car or let it go?? (Your opinion)

sounds like a cable is loose man, u need to recheck everything and make sure the computer is ok..theses cars last a long time..you'd prob benifit more from it by keeping it that pickin up about 6k for it

1997 Mercedes Benz E420
I believe that the 96 E320 still had the four speed auto of the W124 car; if so check under the accelerator pedal and you will find an electrical "kick-down" switch located at the firewall. Check to make sure this component is working correctly. There will also be a kick-down solenoid on on the tranny that can fail.

Good luck in sorting this all out. I owned a W124, 400E, and the kick-down was always problematical; I know what a pain [and potentially a danger] that can be when you need to get going fast.

YES = P-0400. From OBD2. where is that trans solenoide???

is an emissions related code,egr needs to be cleaned or hoses checked for leaks.
the trans may be affected by the same leak if the trans vac line is mated to the same fitting.

Where is the EGR located in this car? driver or pass... side? I will check vacum hoses for trany,and EGR.Thanks for your help.

pass side under the last bend in the air intake tubing coming off the maf.Look for any vac line that is off ,brittle or broken.

Just posted a diy for the egr cleaning on benzworld.org w210 section.search p0400
