Mercedes W210 Sedan
Tiresize and offset on 8,5x20 and 10x20 on my W210 sedan Avantgarde.

I`m from Norway so please excuse my poor English.

I need help figuring out the perfect ET front and rear to “avoid” rubbing. I may have to roll the fenders a bit, but I need to know about how much, because I am going to repaint the car before I get the rims (already scheduled with the painter).

The car:
Mercedes W210 1997 220D Avantgarde (I’ve figured that this engine wasn’t even delivered in the US due to lack of displacement? )

The rims
8,5x20 ET?? and 10x20 ET??

The tires:
225/30R20??
245/30R20 or 255/30R20??

I plan to lower the car with H&R springs and #1 pads.

Please help the lost Norwegian!

How are the

roads in Norway?20's are going to ruin the ride and with the thin sidewall may ruin the wheels and the looks.30 series tires would be beyond extreme.18's with a drop and you could go wider than the 20's with the proper offset and it will look right and handle okay.Your nice soft benz ride quality will be gone just not as much as the 20's will do to it.
some help
http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp
compare what you run now to what you are contemplating.
ohlord
another consideration is the weight change in the wheel physics,large wheels require more brake to stop the car,so are you willing and able to properly do the whole job and install bigger rotors?
E55 AMG ran
* Wheel Size(front) 8.0J x 18 in
* Wheel Size(rear) 9.0J x 18 in
* Wheel Type Aluminum Alloy ///AMG monoblock
* Tires 245/40ZR18 front, 275/35ZR18 rear
and they look massive! et 31 front et35 rear approx.
trial fit some of those and see how you like them.
watch your speed,with the new wheels your speedometer will be inaccurate and from what I hear you guys can go to jail for a speeding ticket?

Not to be rude or anything, but to make this clear. I am fully aware of the disadvantages of riding on 20s. The 1010tires calculator will not help. I am asking the w210 riders out there who qualify answering the question. Qualify. Read; Experiences with "similar" dimensions.

If i need a peptalk i`d ask my mother.

Jail for speeding. Thats for sure Not with my 220D Haha!

ohlord sure comes across as very condescending in a lot of his posts. Its actually starting to wear me down. I think he has some decent knowledge of our cars but his internet etiquette could sure use some work.

Anyway back to your question. I can't be of too much help since I am not running 20's but I can give you the specs of my 19's. I'm running 19-8.5 ET37 with 245/35/19 all around and I'm lowered with an H&R cupkit. I have some slight rubbing to the fender in the back on heavy acceleration and aggressive cornering. The fronts are very close to the upper ball joint nut but no rubbing yet. I'm planning on changing to ET35 in front after I roll my fender lips.

Personally I would stick with 19's but if you are willing to live with the 20's then more power to ya.

Apologies in advance ohlord

Sorry

If a little education is rude and condescending I will not give it,I thought you asked for the perfect fit to avoid rubbing.I have 40 years of experience in tires,fitments on race cars and every sort of performance car. I will leave you to decide for yourself.As to the 1010 site if you can't take a ruler and figure out the proper offset from the directions and diagrams,you need someone to do it for you.Now that was condescending
