New brake pads squeek.

New brake pads squeek.
I just installed a new set of ceramic pads and they are squeeking. Is this normal during the break in process? Its mostly when I turn. I can't imagine I did something wrong, it was a fairly easy install. They were EBC Red Stuff pads. Any ideas?

Did
you use the anti noise backing goo.red stuff?CRC Disc Brake Quiet? They also make a spray for the rotors and pads to seat them and break them in for quiet operation.

You would know this is not a joke if you searched the forum for posts about guys that have had squealing issues with their brake pads. Here's a link to purchase the grease: http://catalog.worldpac.com/mercedes...i+Squeal+Paste
There can be other issues involved with why your pads squeal, but using the paste will either solve the problem or eliminate a reason for the squeal.

the squeal is from the vibration between the backing plate of the pad and the caliper. do the job over, and this time, clean all of the touching surfaces with a small wire brush, and lube all moving parts, caliper guide pins, caliper hanger where the pads slides and the back of the pad where it touches the caliper with anti-seize (just don't get it on the brake pad material or the rotor).

That's
why you are the newbie
most guys would not even ask the question and then when they did the brakes they would squeeeek!
so you are off to a great start in becoming a diy'er

the crc brand is sold at all the chain auto part stores.

If the rotor is scored, they will always squeek no matter what you do (the pad will shimmy against the rotor, and as aforedescribed, it's the vibration in the pad which causes the noise).
I changed out all four rotors (drilled Brembos/Axxis pads) and on the rear - the premium pads were too hard, they squeeked like mad. I went back to stock pads on the rear and all quiet now. They work fine on the front, but the rears just don't get hit hard enough.
