e420 transmission

This past saturday I drove my car on a trip maybe 200 miles, when i got back my wife drove up to the store, when she came back she saqid the check electronics light came on, so i said no problem i'll call some time next week and get it checked, so today i was going to get check out, and it would not change out of 1st gear. I was planning on changing the fluid over the holidays when i had time. I will post back what codes where read today.

any suggestions

Did the Wife spill a drink in the shifter?

Check for stored codes and go from there...any Auto Zone will read it for No Charge..or just purchase a OBD code reader as they come in Handy on all late cars

The car is most likely in safe mode or also called limp mode. It happened to my car and all i had to do is get the tcu reset and the car has been fine since.

so

it's in limp mode, can you manually shift it to a higher gear or is the shifter unable to be moved from the gate?
Check you gas cap, flip the gasket over and put it back on.Clean your purge valve,I did a write up on how to over on benzworld.org w210 section. If you have a big enough of an emissions issue it will put you into limp mode.Start there, did you do the battery disconnect to see if you could reset the system?
The input /output turbine sensors on the 5speed 722.6 trans are on top of the valve body inside the transmission.
do the gasket and the purge valve cleaning first to see if you can clear that problem and disconnect the battery key out of ignition and step on the brakes for 30 seconds rehook up the battery and then sync you windows and such per the manual. If the p0455 clears but the car still shows the p0715 code ,before you do anything to it you need to get it confirmed by a trusted shop. Those sensors fail, they crack,or they can get dirty if you have not changed the trans fluid and filter.Start with the simple things, cap, purge valve, battery reset, then the more complex.Last guy I talked through it the parts and fluid and filter and gasket were about 800 bucks and he got them from the dealer.
At that price you can see why I say start simple
wish I had better news, maybe it will be just the reset and emissions check that will solve it and then we will all be happy.

tried that didn't work! emission codes are gone but the p0715 input sensor is still showing up! What are all the reason this can happen? called the dealer they what 281.00 dollars for the sensor, with fliuds and filter the total was 438.00 dont want to spent almost 500.00 dollars and transmission is gone. how can u tell if the sensor is bad.

Transmission Stuck in 1st - Windows work only when engine is off

Thanks for the info on the limp mode rest. Along with the limp mode issue, windows will not go up or down if the engine is on. Turn the engine off and they work fine. Radio seems to be acting iradidic as well. Any advise?

did you replace the conductor plate..?, cause code p0715 refers to the sensor attached in the C.plate,,
