Dynamat -ing our W210!

Hi everyone, thanks for checking my thread out. Been putting dynamats on the body frame lately, preparing for some audio upgrades as well as eliminate some road noise. Oh yea, also did some re-wiring cos the guys worked on my navi didn't do a perfect job. The blue wires you see in the pic are now hidden along with my OEM wires inside the black covers. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

80mm dynamat + suede interior and seat inserts on the way. pics up next week. Thanks for leaving your comments and checking!!! Have a great christmas everyone...

Interior assembly...

Hey, thanks for stopping by. Disassembling the interior was very difficult at first, but once you get a hang of it, its a piece of cake. You are looking at taking out around 6-8 pieces of black ABS trims before you can remove the carpet. The driver side is especially tricky to remove the carpet, since you might snap the driver ventilation on the sides. The hardest part is removing the front carpets I think. I have attached more pics to help you out in anyway. Good luck.

I heart S? Cool to see what our cars look like with the interior gutted. Looking forward to hearing your opinions on how much quieter the car is after you are finished. Keep up the good work!!

Nice work man...would you mind posting a pic of your trunk? I'd like to see what/how you handled the stereo components...(or course I'm assuming you did since I see that fat red power cable going back there )

Nice work. I bet it will quite down the car alot, not that it's noisy but it will be nice and solid for subs and clear sound.
Let us see your audio setup when it's done.

How did you get that double din nav installed? any special fitment pieces?

I haven't got to the trunk yet, I will be dynamating the trunk last. As for the audio systems at the back, I will take pics later on and will inform you once they are up. Thanks for checking.

The navi is avic-z1 with a custom bracket. Had to cut out partial of the centre consol trim. Again, I will post pics later to help you in everyway. Thanks for checking my thread out guys. ^_^

Nice job bro! I can't stress enough how much I hate seeing people half-assing custom work. Great to see that you took the project that far and looks to be a very TLC motivated project. Its always worth the extra mile being put it to do it RIGHT. Plus you know how damn well the job is rather than relying on whomever was paid to do it.

When I was selling my previous w210 it turns out my mechanic offered me the most money due to the fact that I took time to properly jacket wires, clean every possible contacts I could get my hands on, laid down insulation (I used neoprene rather than dynamat), labeled and numbered cables, etc... all that geeky stuff!)

I can't wait to see how yours turns out! Drive that baby with pride

A late reply. After reading this post I've ordered 2 packs of Dynamat Extreme from Amazon, spent 7 hours in the garage just cover the carpet underneath. I must say this is a very hard work, I felt like I lost my arms, soar and pain!

In the last pic those are Brabus Monoblock V replica or real two piece rims. My guess would be reps. Hard to tell from the distance. they also came in a one piece design and only as original Brabus pieces. The replicas are of the two piece design.

Nice work and well done. Interesting seat color. I believe the AMG's extended the inserts to the edge. Also noticed your front bumper design is different than the AMG side and rear pieces. Is that also a future mod? Looks real sharp. Needs to be lowered a bit.

thanks for bringing this back from the dead!

i am about to order my dynamat this week to do the floor, doors, ceiling, rear deck, and trunk. the pictures you posted look great and def gave me a heads up as to what i should expect.

how much of a difference did you notice in regards to JUST the road noise?

I just did the carpet underneath for now. Regarding the road noise, I would say 40% satisfy. Its still noisy running on concrete road. Expect better result after finishing the doors and the deck.

I'm just speculating here, but I think the most benefit from road noise would come from doing the wheelwells, doors, and potentially the back panel behind the rear seat. The carpet is already a hefty mass of sound deadening material.

thanks for your response. i'm about to strip the car and do everything and although i'm doing it mainly in prep for the stereo install, i was really curious about the effects on road noise. between the 245's and 275's meeting the road and the negative camber, road noise has increased significantly (despite wasting almost 2 grand on "quiet" michelin's) and it would be so nice to get some of my sanity back!
