Question on tire wear
Replaced all 4 tires 235-45ZR/17 Eagle F1 GS-D3 on stock wheel with Carlsson suspension on Feb 07 and did a front/rear rotate last summer (after 5000miles). Yesterday it was like 6000miles later and found out that the front has another 2mm before hitting the wear indicator while the rear is 5mm above the wear indicator. Is this normal (wife's car)? I thought all RWD has faster tire wear on the rear.
Should I consider replacing the front? If yes, then will I put the new set in the rear and move the current rear to front? Or put the new set in front and leave the rear as is.
Also, is there other good tire recommendation with long tread life, relatively good dry traction but definitely excellent wet traction?
Thanks ahead,
E320se

I just swapped out my F1 set for my winter set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (yeah, I know, it's mid-Jan already)
I noticed the rears were worn down past the wear bar on the right side and almost as much on the left, whereas the front have little wear at all from last year. So the opposite of what you experienced. What I don't understand is why any differences in the 4 tires would exist at all, assuming proper alignment. The car is not tracked, nor accelerated hard enough to break traction.
In your case, I would first check the front alignment.
For an alternative to the F1 (which I love for wet and dry traction), the Michelin not only ride terrific, but have a 400 wear rating and seem to last forever. The slight downside is that they are a tad narrower at the contact patch and of course are not able to handle dry cornering as well as the Goodyears, but that would be expected with a 4-season design.
One tip I would make, there are several Ebay sellers that specialize in lightly to moderately-used tires that are taken off of lease returns. You can find some spectacular bargains on F1's (or anything for that matter). For an F1 with 70% tread left, you can pay as little as 1/3 the retail price for new ones. The only hassle is dragging them to a shop for mounting.

A great all season tire,I think tirerack carries them and they can be ordered at costco.Michelin has a 60 buck off the 4 tire sale at this time if it is still going on.
The exalto has a 45000 mile tread wear warranty.
Always if the tires have safe tread put the best two on the front wheels,if you have a choice (not staggered)![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

PS2's are also very good tires if snow is not an issue

PS2 on my other car is great in dry (stick like glue) and pretty good n wet. The F1 GS-D3 in general is bit off in dry but excellent in wet (cut like a knife). The Exalto is probably a bit too biased on wet (all season) even with a good tread life.
Anyone has experience on Bridgestone RE750? There are a few good reviews at Tire Rack.
Interesting that all of the above choices (except PS2 ~$200) are in the $165 price zone for 235-45R/17.

Because of the 235-45ZR/17 Eagle F1 GS-D3 I will never buy a Goodyear ever again.
Went to Bridgestone turanza Totaly changed the car. Worth the $1000.

The fronts still typically wear faster because of they take most of the force on turns and carry the weight of the engine. To be honest, I have 20k on y tires, nevre rotated and cant notice any difference between front and back wear. I would change the fronts and leave the rears where they are but only after you correct the problem that is causing excessive tire wear. Otherwise you'll be replaceing them again just as fast.

I have added update in another link on a few changes.
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w210/227757-alignment-lowered-suspension.html
New Goodyear F1 All Seaons (great deal at Goodyear shop - cheaper than TireRack since no shipping and cheaper than Costco on mount/balance/alignment)
Change spring pads on all corners
Alignment is pretty much in spec now
I would recommend these tires!
