I replaced the battery on my 2000 E320 last week. Bought the Interstate replacement at the local Firestone Dealer. Perfect replacement and recommended through several other threads. Paid $110 installed. Included electrical system check (ie . load, draws, otput). Insist on power backup device to maintain various stored vehicle codes during installation.

Mercedes road side assistance will come out and change it, plus they will recode the radio. The typical charge is $125 or so for the battery, dont go to the dealer they charge labor then.

Do they charge for the visit?

1800 FOR MERCEDES
Roadside assistance is subsidized by MB, they will change a tire, bring a little fuel, give you a jump, FREE and might do a minor repair they can, there is a charge if they do work like a hose or fanbelt. This is lifetime, for any MB owner or driver. They will also replace the battery for the over the counter cost, no labor. The tech typically runs your VIN (you have to provide it if they dont have you on file) and has the radio code. They will call you back after contact with MB and tell you their status. They will come to your location wherever you are with a few minor exceptions (no close dealership) 24/7. They will also arrange a tow to the local dealer.
If you drive in for a battery there is a labor charge, my local MB dealer decided to waive it lately on batteries. There is a charge if they do work like a hose or fanbelt
The price typically is in the $125 or so but I have seen posts where some dealers have marked it up, I hate to say it but it seems like the same ones that hold you up most of the time, the tech knows the price before he installs it, so you can wave it off and get a jump.
I think MB is the only one other than Rolls, and Bently, while Lexus, Cadillac and BMW will only provide the free service while under warranty

You might want to call roadside

first and get a quote, members are reporting 150-210 for roadside.
group 49dl duralast autozone about 70 bucks, sams club, some costco carry the vented clone, and interstate mtp93
have your radio code handy and follow the reset procedure in the manual.

Pray tell

how much for the battery?
When you are enticed to go into the dealer be sure to tell us how happy you are with your $880 mass air sensor

I called the MB Roadside Service yesterday to replace my nearly 7 year old original battery. It wasn't quite dead but I could tell it was dying. They promised a call back in 15 minutes. I was called in half that time.

The repairman came out in a new ML. Brought the correct battery with him. Tested my dying battery and confirmed its demise and explained how the tester checks each cell, etc.

Battery installed, old one taken away. Cost: $128.00 plus tax. Couldn't have been nicer. He also reset all the functions.

Well done

now why can't all the dealers do it for the same price?one member was recently charged about 200 bucks for the same roadside service.

There are some dealers who are honest, some try to squeeze every nickel out of you. I noticed some east coast dealers are thieves and the same for some west coast, the service tech will give you a jump and also give you the price of the new battery, pass, if you dont like the price and go elsewere.

Battery Replacement

My battery died while in the shop for repairs. The cost of the battery at the dealership was $225, so I got a Bosch for $95 at Pepboys - brought it to the dealer and they put it in.
