I brought my car in for service to "Universal Imports" in rochester, NY for a couple of things... one thing they offered to change for me was my high beam, which was out. They wanted 50 dollars to change the bulb, citing that it was difficult to get to. Having changed it before myself, I promptly told them that I would do it myself (come on 9 dollar H7 bulb at walmart). A few days later i go to change it and i notice that the black cap that covers the high beam housing AND the actual high beam bulb is missing. So i KNOW they messed with it. I bring it in and show them exactly how i found it. Basically it came down to them denying that they lost it. I can't believe they will lose a good customer over a 5 dollar cap... ANYWAY, i am looking for it on autohausaz.com and can't find it. Can anyone help me find it there or anywhere else on the web?

They would have lost me when they quoted $50 for the job.

I continue to question whether Mercedes dealers aren't generally more honest than Mercedes independents.

I'm not convinced that they are to blame. You may simply not have noticed
that it was missing until you opted to swap out the bulb yourself. It could
have come off some time before....maybe even when you last changed the
bulb.

Per my parts crash book, these are the lamp cover numbers:
Right # 208-820-02-49
Left # 208-820-01-49
Check you MB parts department for #verification, availabily, & cost

Also you might want to check the lower engine compartment, it could be that it wasn't screwed on tight and fell down, from driving over bumps etc.

mine had come off one time and I thought for sure it was lost, but low and behold it was still in the lower half of the engine compartment.

Maybe a shot in the dark, but worth a look see.

hey guys, i got a call today from the manager at Universal Imports (Rochester, NY) and he wanted to set things right. He said he read my post on mbworld and wanted to look into what happened and do something about it.
they ordered the part, had me come in today and they installed it. they even went out of the way and replaced one of my h6w standing lights that was out.
