Looking for input on E55 2001

I need some quick input on this matter. Subject: 2001 E55 35k on her with a 3 year 100k MB warranty. Super clean car but the hood and two front fenders have been repainted I'm good and you can't see the shade or texture difference, (The paint meter speaks the truth). The car has all original panels so it's only paint work. Car drives nice no weird quirks etc. Most of the time I would stay away form a serious car with paint work but as of latley everything I've seen has some sort of paint work on it. Bottom line is $23500.00 with the warranty. I'm thinking that's a good deal.

Any feedback would be appreciated. (need some quick feedback)

Trying hard to get in the E55 club.

It's a wonderful club. Thats some low milage however, I would feel better around 20k. 210's are a dime a dozen now, even 55's.

The car is being sold from a private party who purchased from the dealer in Dec. 07.

The price is way to high on that car. Even with the mileage.

Are Starmarks transferable? Did the seller buy the car CPO and then get the warranty? I don't think you can buy CPO with paint work.

I would also recommend CARFAX and run a VMI...try to find out why the front got painted...I'd be real suspicious, at 23k I dunno, sometimes things don't add up.

I would be suspicious since her recently purchased the car in December '07....

Somethings not adding up. If the current owner young? Maybe he bit off more than he can chew?

The car's not too old for Starmark. They're good for up to 8 years. My 2001 warranty will expire next year. I've gotten good use out of it!

if it was a cpo warranty it only has a year left, why would they paint it if no damage? And it is still priced thousands above private sale value.

The price seems high. Could the paint job be from touching up the front end?

Either way Good luck

I owned a 1999 E55 which was a W201 like the 2001. My car did not have a speck of rust anywhere after 7 plus years. New paint on both fenders means the car had been either vandalised or hit at some stage. Maintenance is high. Brake rotars are "floating", whatever that means and cost a lot more than the other lesser W201 cars.

Late model MB cars are like expensive women. They feel good only when well maintained and pampered.

If an extended warranty was purchased by the original owner, it can still be in effect, and is transferable, as mine is. It is valid for 8 years or 100,000 miles.
