Once

again kbb and nada are for chumps to buy at that price and are the artifically high prices dealers set and then if you talk them down a bit they act like you raped them with how good of a deal you got
72k miles on a 2000 you might get 11k on its best day anywhere in the lower 48,and if you live in a high end town even less, the peeps that can will buy new.the ones who cant are not stupid enough to pay 18k for a w210.Geez man you can pick up 60k mile 2001 E55's for less than that.

How about this....

Pops buy a $125K mercedes... his prim and proper son wants a mercedes as well....

Pops... he doesnt want to fork out $50K for a nice one, so he picks up a used one for $20K in perfect condition.

The used mb dealer here, just sold a 1994 e series to my wife's co-worker and he paid $11,900!!

ohlord...

IT IS NOT WHAT I THINK MY CAR IS WORTH, IT IS HOW MUCH I CAN GET FOR IT IN MY LOCAL MARKET and what the vehicle is worth to the buyer, regardless of any other factors.

Mid 90's Corvettes go for $20-$22K here.

I bought a boat in Atlanta Georgia for $3K, drove it here, cleaned it up a little and sold it for $9500.

Yep

Kid,
It always turns to the the little crazy guy
Come back and tell us about it when you try to sell,I have not eaten any hats to date.
If your town is so rich that money is no object then new mercedes ar flying out the doors and like the california market the prices on used 8 year old w210's is on the floor.Your market area does not defy the prices of used Mercedes.Four years ago the dealer offered him 21k,drive into the dealer today and tell me what they will give you,cuz hell they should be able to turn a quick eleven grand on your fine car

It really depend on your local area, hard to stay. YOu might want to look at local auto-trader, and visit local dealer to get a brief idea.

The market is quite depressing for used car right now (as the matter of fact, all car), especially luxury car. V8 won't help either . But again, all of these issue are local. So worth to check.

Here in SoCal, a car like that might fetch around $15-16K at most (01 E430, in good condition, 30-40K car). One with AMG package might get 1-2K more.

FYI, I bought a 2003 S430 with AMG package, almost a year ago, 54K mile, one owner & full record, pretty loaded, for $29K. Both of the sh$ty KBB and edmunds indicate it was in the 40s K back then, yea right. And it was last year, everything have gone down since except gas price & Obama rating .

And don't forget the rule of selling on the resale/new market, for both car and house: the ones that sold that set the price, not the ones that don't. You can "want" all you want about the asking price, it's how much the mass willing to pay for it that dictate the car price

The only type of Mercedes sedan that seem to have good value on resale is the diesel. Seen both the W210 and W211 capture amazing value on resale

If you are younger

than me you are a kid.
When I saved you a bunch on your mass air sensor.I wasn't so useless was I?
I don't sell cars for less than what they are worth. And I sure as hell don't buy them for more than they are worth.
The little bowing is provided by the forum, the ohlord is in reference to the late Janis Joplin's song
mercedes benz
"Oh lord, wont you buy me a mercedes benz ?
My friends all drive porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So lord, wont you buy me a mercedes benz ? "
And if you did not know that, another reason I know you are a kid.
Funny if I am facing south the little guy is bowing towards the pacific ocean

E430

I just purchased a 2000 E430 4matic with 52k miles for $14,200 in central Ohio. I purchased it from a small dealership. Has everything but zenons, not a ding on it, garaged and well cared for with clean title/owner history. I can't believe the amount of car I got for the money. I love it!!!

Ok, well this will be my last response to this post.

ohlord.... unfortunetly you are comparing apples to oranges.

How is my respectful disagreement with the price of MB's in Charleston, SC Sullivans Island, IOP and Daniel Island anywhere related to you giving me a link to AutoHausAz.com to save me $40?? I appreciate the link, but you did nothing but supply a link.

I find that your initial disrespect and thought that I was a "kid" shows that your intelligence in "in the box". An engineering mentality of sorts.

You have no idea how old I am or who I am or what my background is and you call me a "kid". That shows you intelligence level for sure. You made a statement without knowing any facts. Nothing. Zilch. Period.

You are probably one of those old men that has the know it all syndrome. I have met your type many a times.... so far in the box that no one on this earth could challenge you. You know it is the truth.

And just to let you know a time frame for my age, my grandfather (my mom's father) was born in the 1800's and sailed into Bikini Atoll 17 minutes after the first test nuclear explosion from the manhattan project.

P.S. Also, I see you screen name is ohlord, but I am a little confused because you put the knee praying icon that is facing east on all of your posts??? That is a muslim icon and it appears you are a christian?? I guess you must be quite confused... it appears so.

You

Did not read the post
Read the post above in reference to the screen name. The reply to the statement about useless i.e. i saved you 40bucks-- without the link you would have spent $170 plus,so if that is not a worthwhile link I don't know what is.No I did not sell you the mass air sensor but I did provide the info that got you the savings.
BTW my Grandfather was born in 1883 and passed away in 1977,you're still just a kid
As a comparison the area I live in is has far more high end cars than Charleston, market values for cars is higher and a 72k mile E430 might fetch 12k on a good day.Ya all keep dreaming ,okay
P.S. I already said the little icon is provided by the forum and from where I am sitting he is facing west, meanwhile your little icon is talking out your a**.

Guys, the prices of W210 are going down but not like W220. I am seeing more and more people are drivng W210, even the guy who selling oranges on street corner (Illegal Immigrants) are driving MB's in Los Angeles.

Believe me you can get 2001 E55 with 50K miles for around $10,000 in California.

W220 are taking bigger dump in prices, My next target car is 2004 W220 S55, I am looking for 50K miles S55 at about $25000 out the door. I know I will get it, because housing market is down, stock market is down and Delears lots are not moving cars like they did in last 3 years during housing boom.

This down hill screwed up Economy, cars specially Mercedes prices $$ are going down like crazy.

You need to wait may be 6 more months, forclosure will hit the roof and Dow will be drop down to 10000.

I test drove this 2006 S-430 last November, it is still sitting in dealer lot. Delears is willing to take $35000, but why pay for 2006 S-430 with 27K miles even $35000. Believe me it will sit 3 more months on lot and will go for $25000.

Times are tough, Economy is bad and housing market stinks.

Sorry, you will have a tough time finding a 2001 E320 with that much mileage at that price, let alone a E55. Trust me, i've looked...

If you ever find these car in the next few months, and they're in good condition & not salvage title, let me know. I have quite a few friend who will pay you $3-5K over this.

Just because the economy is taking dump doesn't mean everything will go penny for a dollar. I agree that used car market is soft, but doesn't mean an S55 with low mile will go $20K, or nice house in West LA will go for $400K. I've encountered more and more people who made statements like yours, unfortunately have not seen any purchase that substantiate the claim.

Don't watch CNBC too much, they're spitting out lot of craps . And let's not forget that both SFV (where you live) and IE are hot spots of foreclosure in SoCal, due to many people over leveraging themselves. For most of west-LA and most OC, it's a bit tougher, but not to the point of total loss like your area. Housing price might go by city/zone, but not used/new car price. Dow might go 10000 in the next few months, but to get E/S55 at the price you state, it might take another few years.

There're still lot of people who make good money out there. Only the real-estate related, those who treat their home like ATM machine, and liar loan holders get burned severely. Heck, the avg bonus we have this year is still $50K, despite the cloudy economy. Three of my co-workers bought new cars last month, most in the 40-50K price range... . Like I said, only housing speculator and those that support that business get hammered, the rest of us get by alright, definitely a bit tougher but ok. You just happen to live in a heavily concentrated speculator & liar loan, so it explains the gloom and doom.

And allow me to put in in some perspective, since everyone want to pay the least possible to buy, and get the most possible when sell. If you think the 2001 E55, with 50K, can be purchased for $10K, then using the depreciation in relative, shouldn't your 2001 E430, with roughly 100K, cost about $2000-2500 ???. (same year same feature, E430 cost about 2/3 of E55, subtract $1000 for every 10K mile) I am sure you don't think you car worth that little ????.

2001

E320 52k miles just purchased by a member on one of the other mb forums for 13k.Tough to find an E55 that low, however I did see one go for 12,500 recently in nice shape.
The housing market has a chilling affect on the whole world economy, don't kid yourself that only the housing and loan sector is going to suffer. While not all gloom and doom, spend wisely and conserve cash and most of all don't be buying no 20grand 2000 w210's in Charleston,S.C.
he's bowing West!!!!

04 s55 might be in the 40's next year, but who would want that problem prone poc anyway?

ok, Y'all,, i am glad to hear from so many points of view on this. Since my first post I have a friend that knows how babied this car is that wants it for $20,000. By what I'm seeing, I would be a fool not to sell it for that. I'm still a bit disappointed that these cars have lost so much of their value ( mine stickered for $62,000 new). Thanks to one and all for the thoughts!
