Central lock and passenger side mirror
Hi, my car just stopped locking itself with the remote. I tried to close it yesterday and it would not react to the remote key. I have E320 Wagon 99 but new key. I checked the fuses and found that 16 controls the central lock. I checked it but it seems fine. After I put it back the central lock started to work, but not as good as before. Seems like the sensitivity went down. I also noticed that my passenger side mirror stopped working. I think that it is also controlled by fuse 16. Any suggestions as far how to diagnose further? Thanks

Central locking
is controlled by more then 1 fuse, look at the fuse chart it is about 5 fuses involved.chect them.use a multimeter, just looking doesn't always work.

Continuety
between contact points.O ohms fuse is shot.Multimeter are only about 4 bucks for a decent one that does most diy tasks from you know who Harbor freight tools.
Remove each fuse to test.Fuse chart in the diy or tips section over on benzworld.org w210 section if you don't have the one the factory put in the side slot down with the battery.

another electrical
OK, so my central lock and mirror works. Now my driver window does not work and my roof opened, but would not close. I checked all the fuses, took them out and put them back. It made my driver window work, but the roof still does not close. I also noticed that when I measured the voltage on the contacts by the fuse, the 41 fuse for roof shows negative. The driver side and the roof fuses under the seat show all positive around 7-10 V. But the 41 fuse shows negative. Any idea what that could mean?

you checked
voltage across the fuse?or one side of the fuse and a ground?Check the fuse with the ohm setting and check the fuse socket to make sure it is not corroded.
Strange that these goblins are hopping around in your fuse box
Might be time to try a hard reset of the system, will not hurt and might reset the unit.

open
that little flap in the pass side rear footwell and disconnect the neg battery terminal(key always out of ignition while doing this)
http://w210.pietrzyk.net/disassembly_electrical.htm
step on the brakes for 30 seconds rehook up the lead, enter your radio code, start the engine turn the steering wheel all the way left to right and back again a few times, sync you windows and sunroof per the owners manual and see if that helped.
