With your key in the first position, I believe you hold down one of the buttons on the rear view mirror for a few seconds until you see the tiny orange light blink a few times... while still holding the button down, then hold your garage opener near the rear view mirror and press the garage door button. Release the garage door button, release the rear view mirror button. That should do it if my memory serves me correctly. If you have a garage opener that rotates the garage codes for security purposes, you'll have to program the car as stated above but then program your garage opener to accept that code you just stored in your car.

For the Homelink to work with my garage door opener which has a rolling code - I had to first teach the car, then press the learn button behind the garage door opener and then press the button that you programmed in the car. My garage door opener will blink when it learns the code from the car. After that it should work fine.

I'm of the belief that I can afford one of these cars, just not smart enough to do more than turn the key on. I'm going to the dealer tomorrow for some work and will ask them if they can help. I will post the results.

To program the visor on my 98 E320 I first pressed the button on the Genie's receiver which is mounted on the ceiling of my garage. I then got down from the ladder and within 30 seconds held down the visor button for about 15 seconds before it began blinking rapidly. I did not even use the Genie transmitter to program the visor; only the Genie garage ceiling mounted receiver.

98 was the first year that homelink could do rolling codes like Genie openers have. I replaced my 96 drivers side visor with the homelink buttons inside with a visor from a 98. The 98 visor works great.
