Gas tank not filling all the way?

I have no clue what the problem is or how it started. One day I went to the gas station and my e55 usually fills to 21 gallons. I filled the tank full got in the car and only had 17.1 gallons. From that point on it has not filled fully. Have no clue what is wrong but any information would help.

Gas stations have limits to spend if you use CC. My station has it as $75. So obviously at current gas prices you can't fill more.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
As

soon as the light comes on If I fill it the most it ever takes is about 17.5 gallons, that is the regular capacity ,the other portion is the 2.5 or so gallon reserve.Do you always run it to near empty ?tank is rated 21.1 gallons and that includes the reserve, also never top off. The m112 and m113 hate that

Try paying in cash or using another credit card

No I dont always run the tank near empty and the pumps around here do not have fill limits. I have been topping off the tank since 02 and I haven't had a problem until now. Always use premium gas and have never had a problem like this before.

How do you know you get 17 gallons? Is it pump reading or your fuel guage reading?
Check your fuel guage before pumping gas, then fill up. Now check your gauge again. It should shows
before reading + pump reading.

Hi - I have a similar problem with my 2000 E200 Kompressor... Up until recently I could fill up at the station and the needle went up to "F", however now it only fills up 3/4 of the way. The board computer tells me the same... 49 litres, 50 litres etc. However, if I stop and start the engine a few times, the needle gradually rises to full, and the computer will read correctly (or thereabouts) 64 litres, 63 litres etc.

Another way I got it to read correctly was parking on a steep incline!

I got level float/sending unit, let me know if you need one. It came out of W210. You can e-mail me if you have any question. It is very simple to change the level float/sending unit.
