Driver side day/nite heated door mirror

Just wanted to let you know I finally resolved my rear view mirror issue. It was delaminating and giving double vision through a haze. I shopped around with help from Marc Cummins and Oh Lord and this is what I found.
Dealer buy list in Pittsburgh Bobby Rahal dealership is $709, plus $30 for install.
Marc's friend Steve at MB Netherlands for a Euro convex glass 345 euros x1.5 for conversion plus shipping.
Autohauz EOS part $324 shipping included.
Removal: gently pry out from the top and outside edge and the mirror will snap out. Remove two single lead connectors on the back and one double lead plug. Place new mirror, after connecting, with the bottom edge in first and then snap into place. Your done after a wipe. Total time spent on repair five minutes. Thanks Marc and Oh Lord for all your help. It really was way easier than it looked.
BTY OES is Original Equipment Supplier.
Hope this helps the intrepid ones out there.

Does the Autohaus mirror insert glass include the autodimming feature too?

It is heated and has day/ nite feature like the original. All hook ups are as per original on the back. The MB p/n is scrubbed on the back but they are identical laying side by side front and back. No wires are left unhooked.

Is the adhesive pad the only thing holding the mirror in place? If so, me thinks that I should not have tried this is 25 degree weather. The adhesive doesn't work so well at this temp. I put it on, think everything is good, walk away and the mirror pops off.

it should have had a metal locking lever, about 5" long...in addition to the dbl
sided adhesive.

Hey Snow cub, the part That I purchased as per the above threads was a direct 'snap in place'. I never dealt with any adhesive to do this install. Again the piece I bot was an OES piece with just the MB number scrubbed from the back. It otherwise looks and fits identical to the original OEM piece. if you purchased the same thing I got then the backing plate was already attached at the factory. You would have just popped your old unit out, disconnect the leads and then reattach your leads to the new piece, pop in and you are done. Total time was a minute or two.

Just for documentation on the forum, you should be able to get the non-dimming one in Germany from ATU (Autoteile Unger) for around 43 EURO. Just look up a local branch on your next trip over.

Popping the mirror housing off and using the metal locking tab did it for my '98 E300DT. Getting the housing back on was a little odd in that it didn't fit at first, I had to realign the mirror so that it was parallel with the motor support. I got the part from autohaus AZ, so I assume it's the correct part. At least it's not oozing fluid anymore.
