Best looking 16" wheel on a w210?
Our '97 e320 is currently back on stock wheels with Bridgestone tires that are in excellent shape. I do plan on installing some w221 wheels at a later date, but want to stick with 16's until the current tires are worn. What 16" wheels do you guys think would look best on an early w210?

Not sure about the early W210 but I have never liked the OEM 10-spoke ones I have. I think the sport package wheels (post facelift at least) are much more attractive.

11-spoke wheels from the facelift models look better than the 10-spoke wheels on prefacelift cars.
MB has another 16-incher called FIDIS that looks really good. B6 647 1731
BTW, W221 wheels are designed for 14mm lug bolts and your W210 uses 12mm lug bolts, so you'll need special bolts for them

I have 10mm hubcentric spacers & different bolts to work with S-Class wheels. I have previously run 17" wheels from an early w220 S600 and 18" wheels (same style) from a later w220 S600. I can only assume that the w221 wheels would work with the same spacers & bolts.
I liked the plain old E420 wheels I had on the ol '97.
Why not go with some W211 wheels? I think they really update the look...
I was thinking of the polished clk320 wheels because they're cheap & forged (less unsprung weight), but they sure are ugly.
Anybody have a pic of a w210 with later-w140 6-spoke polished wheels?

I have a 97 E420 which had the factory 16 in alloy wheels. About a year ago I bought a set of used 16 inch 2001 S500 chrome wheels from a wheel shop in LA. Had them shipped to me in NC and the total cost was like $300.00. I then sold my original wheels to a guy for $50.00 each and offset the S500 wheels purchase to a total cost to me of $100.00. I too had fairly new 16 inch Potenza's and didnt want to get rid of them and waste that money.
Only thing I had to do was put 1/4 inch (?) wheel spacers behind the front wheels so they wouldnt rub against the suspension which they did ever so slightly. Being chrome they updated the look of the car. Pics below.
Thats my opinion anyway.![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)

That's what they look like to me and I like them much better than mine. I priced these, or very similar ones, at a dealer and they were almost $500 each. When he told me what mine are worth ($300 for all 4) I didn't pursue those any further!

[QUOTE]Is that what the wheels on this car are?/QUOTE]
I did some research. Those appear to be the stock, six spoke, E320 wheels for 2002. According to my 2002 sales brochure, the regular E320 had six spoke wheels in 2002; the 4-Matic cars and the wagons retained the 10 spoke wheels. They are 16" x 7.5". They are are a nice looking wheel.

[QUOTE=vinceC;3214181]
The car in that photo is a 2002 E430 and those are 17" wheels. I've seen those wheels on E320s as well. I really like them, too - better than the normal E430 wheels or the Sport wheels. Was there "Special Edition" package that included these wheels on 2002 W210s? What other features were included with this package?
Thanks,
Fred

My bad - I counted those spokes a bunch of times and came up wrong - my eyes are getting old.
I have some other resources I can dig into - that wheel is a bit of an oddball. I've never seen that five spoke on a W210 before. I did have some literature with that wheel - I just have to find it.

Also, the EPC lists P/N 2014012002 for E320 chassis designation 210.065 with Special Model Exclusive/Exclusive Package P34. Be careful assuming that means Special Edition in the US. There are Classic, Avantgarde and Exclusive Packages in Europe. It is 17" x 7.5" ET37. It list at over $400 each from the dealer.

I have those as my drag radial setup. They were described as E500 wheels when I bought them. I use a 15mm spacer on the rear. Work great with my hoosiers.

I have the 16s on now, had 18s on also.
Not sure if I'll go back to them or 17 sports at some point
