New rims!
A few days ago my wife hit the curb when cornering on an icy road:

Those were MB 'vega' rims from a W208 clk, they were under the car when we got it but not really the correct size (7J 16 ET37) with Michelin Energy 205-55-16 tyres. Since they looked nice I left it that way until now ofcourse!
This gave me the opportunity to go look for a 'new' set of rims in the correct size for a W210. (7.5J 16 ET41) I started bidding on a nice set of W210 facelift avantgarde rims with Michelin Pilot HX 215-55-16 tyres and got them!

They have a polished lip but it doesn't really show on the outside/daylight pics. Anyways even if the difference in offset and height is around 1cm the car rolls and corners slightly better now.

clean wheels..., but
Those are indeed very clean wheels. I had similiar wheels on my 97 E420 when I first bought the car. Then, I upgraded to 17's, then I lowered the car and upgraded to 18's. Now, I am really liking my lowered look- you should consider doing the same:

Hmm...turns out there's more to it. With the new rims my steering wheel is still a bit off-center when going straight ahead and there's some rattling now on the front passenger side. Had it checked out today and: one broken spring and a bent stabilizer-rod. (or control arm? dunno the english word for it) Parts are ordered and will be replaced next saturday. (springs on both sides)

Don't forget the all important 4 wheel alignment when all the new parts are installed. Nice looking ride and thank the wife for the opportunity to get new rims.

Oh she did give me a goeie tijd already Ohlord! Had time to goto the shop today so the front springs and stabilizer rods are replaced. Gone is the rattling and the weak feel in the front suspension. They also took care of some rust that was appearing at the edge of the drivers side spring-perch. The steering wheel is still a bit off center but they couldn't find anything else out of order so now I'm up for a 4 wheel alignment.

Got the 4-wheel alignment done today and indeed the right front side was way off. Everything got adjusted and now my baby is finally back the way she was!

And so the first mod has begun. Now let us see where the story will lead you next. Once begun it is fun but to stop well none of us has yet really tried.
