I was going to create a new thread on this topic, but noticed yours.

I have the same wheels. I just sold the A/S Michelin Pilot Sports I had on the winter set. They were fantastic but very expensive. My summer tires are currently Eagle F1 DS-G3, but now I need to find a new A/S tire. I was looking over the new A/S Eagle GT for a while now. $100 or so on Tirerack, and the feedback looks pretty good so far. I would prefer the F1 A/S, but $200 extra is $200 extra.

winter time...

I am running right now on winter tires Toyo Garit G4. ... 215/55 R16 original benz rims from c-class,

-spare set of rims from e-class with Michelin ALPIN - 225/55R16 95H I did not drive those one yet saving them for next winter.

-now getting set of original rims part # A2034013302/B66470609
and trying to see what will be good deal for summer tires 225/45 R17, I think that will be right size of tires in order to compensate for bigger rims 17 inch.

original was 215/55R16 on 16 inch rims.

-I have Michelin Pilot Alpin tires on my stock 16" wheels. The Michelins handle really well for my winter driving. Not bad on the highway either.
-I would suggest upgrading your tire/rim combination to 17" if you have the chance. It helps with handling and responsiveness. I have a set of 17" Brabus VI for the other three seasons. I didn't go with 18" because I'm in Chicago and the pot holes are really bad. I just installed Yokohama YK520 tires on there. 235/25/17. They are really nice tires. Handle well on the highway and not much road noise. I also had to drive these in the snow and they handled decently. I previously had Falken tires on there which I really didn't like. I got the Yoko's from discount tire $765.80 including tax, install, etc.

I replaced some "maranda" or some el cheapo tires that came on mine when I bought it with some Falken 912's - they have been great. The vehicle is whole nother creature than before, alot quieter and handles great in rain. I usually get michelin's but these were bout half the price per tire. Helped I saved up and paid in cash which got me a little more off.

Question make right decission

that is my concern should I go with Falken because they are inexpensive or save even more money and go with tires from china sumwo 235/45r17 ,or something more expensive.I`v heard about recall of 45000 tires imported from china into usa it was issue with separation of sidewalls.SO how to get something up to 90-100 bucks that is in decent shape over summer time and what brand?

Goods not cheap, cheaps not good

I would never buy the cheapest brand made

I would try to find the best (or next best) tire at the best price i could.

continental

ok just got it today 17 inch rims with center caps MB (part numbr of rims is the same as above but on the rims say MADE IN POLAND .Confused I was thinking that OEM rims are made in Germany.
beside that got Continental tires 235/45R17
""""(The ContiProContact features unparalleled wet-braking capacity and year-round traction. This tire performs with outstanding handling, control and high-speed capability.
Benefits:
  • Straight circumferential groove for greater water evacuation and outstanding braking on wet surfaces.
  • Central rib reduces tread pattern noise level for a quiet ride.
  • Optimized shoulder lug stability for enhanced steering response.
  • Optimized sipes with defined radius create an interlocking effect for improved stability and dry handling.
  • Versatile, all season tire.)"""
  • another thing was interesting when I saw on this tires MADE IN PORTUGAL also I was thinking tires are made in Germany.
....does that means that all MB parts gonna be produced in other country's than Germany? R they gona be good quality or not?!

tomorrow first thing will be to mount those tires on my benz and do drive test

be back soon to post results with 17 inch rims & conti tires.

I ran 235-45-17 Yokohama S Drives for three seasons in Florida and they performed very well. Had tremendous grip and did very well in the wet. 6000 miles worth. Would buy again. Florida has heavy down pores so good tread depth and water evacuation from the tread is important. I now run General Exclaims 245-18 fr. and 265-18 rr.(down from 285 to minimize hydroplane effect) and they have performed very well. 5000 miles. They are quiet and have very good grip in wet here in Pittsburgh, PA. Would buy again and is a steal for the price from Discount Tire.com. Both performed as well as the Goodyears I used to have with the directional tread. I do not run this car in winter so no winter tires. Hope this two cents helps

review ......it could help someone......

ok ,here it is ,I will try to make full report.....

tires installed balanced using "alloy 4" option on balance machine weight from inside of rims and sticky weights close to the outside edge.Anyway I did not need much of them because tires were perfect and rims too.235/45r17 continental are perfect so far,no rubbing they fill up nicely wheel base not sticking out much ,aerodinamics is ok 100% SAFE and SEXY,great handling,in and out of the ramp on expressway very stable (grip was great),tested speed up to 140 km /h (they are rated H up to 210 km/h... I think )very nice no vibrations ,just a bit noise which is normal.Braking distance was outstanding (very short) ,
going over patholles was great. This tire has soft sidewall ( 2 ply of steel and one ply of nylon) that is why it can absorb impact easy.(Not like other continental tires very rigid sidewall because they are run flats ,but they go up 50 miles and must be replaced (new sselfpancture gel) and those are very noisy on expressway.
Speedo is dead on ***** ,transsmission shifts right on time and rims looks sexy .....now I have to paint callipers and get some crossdrilled rotors ....that will be next step .....because those rims are very open and you can see calippers ,rotors and if they are rusty than whole look of the wheel is not sexy.

bottom line continental tires on CLK 17 inc OEM rims fits so nice on E320 and I will recomand to anyone who wants to upgrade rims and tires.very good choice for rims and tires.....I am so happy........MB rims & Continental tires

yea.... you are right

Sorry, I just got to happy upgrading my wheels......bottom line, original 215/55r16 (tires and rims)could be replaced with 235/45R17 and car will be still within specs, safe and fast.

....as soon I save some money will try how it looks like on 18 inches rims.

I've driven a lot of different tire brands and types in the 20 years I have my drivers license, but Michelin's are the best all-round tires. They are expensive though. Continentals are good also but tend to wear off faster when compared to Michelins. My current Michelin Pilot HX have been replaced by the all new Michelin Primacy HP and a set of these are going to be mounted on the rear rims soon!

Pricey and better deals are out there but it is tough to beat a Michelin on quality.

Why did you pick the Contis for the 17 inchers? I know they are often used by MB, but what swayed you?
