Oh please
don't use that antiquated method
Follow the diy I posted or follow
http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/OilFilter2
Pm me if you need a pump,Or it is on my site
www.proudtosaymadeintheusa.com
Always suck the oil out. Does a better job, faster, easier,no chance of stripping pan bolt. Do it
my pump is electric so it pumps the engine out in about 4 minutes.
Always add a qt. of standard store(lowes, etc.) kerosene to the oil and *idle *the engine for 10 minutes(starting with a cold engine)
to bring the oil up to temp and also let the kerosene do its job of cleaning the engines internals.
Clean engine, happy engine

I use a pump as well, well worth the investment.
About the kerosene flush, this is an old and reliable method of cleaning the sludge out of your engine, people have been doing this since or before the ol hot rod days. Some important things to remember are to change the oil filter before and after a kerosene flush and DO NOT REV your motor while its in there.

Just bought the topsider last week and did my oil change. I love that thing. I've been changing everybody's oil that shows up at my house ever since :-)
Doesn't work in all cars though. Couldn't get it down the tube in a newer Grand Cherokee with a 3.6 litre V6. It works fine in my 2000 Grand Cherokee with a 4.0 I6 though.

You
"personally would never do that kerosene thing,"
However engine flush that you purchase for 5 bucks a bottle in your local auto store is nothing but renamed kerosene.Use it ,idle engine, drain oil, change filter,200k mile engines torn down little to no wear visible or measured on internals.Have yet to have an oil related failure on dozens and dozens of race and street engines I've built in Mercedes, Ferrari's, Mg's, Hot rods, dragsters.
So while you personally would not use it, you personally most likely don't drive em hard and put them away wet. But that's okay,To each his own preference.

Nope, don't drive them that hard but I do drive them long. I change oil as recommended by the manufacturer (or sooner in the case of my w210, every 10k miles). No lubrication related engine failures yet either. Transmission, different story but that's typically been bad design.
Thanks for the heads up that engine flush is really renamed kerosene.
