'Check Engine' light by missing a gas cap?
Hi all,
I wonder if the 'Check Engine' light can be ON by missing a gas cap.
The light just got ON after the gas cap has been broken.

It's probably the oxygen sensor, get that checked. Not a lot of money to get fixed, and fairly common in that era.
If it's the Oxygen sensor, it is not critical to get it fixed, so don't fret about it.

Don't take advice from someone
that does not know of what they speak.
If you got a new cap from the dealer and not a cheap cap from some auto store the light will go off after a few drive cycles where the system tests itself and sees no more errors in the emissions system.
If it were the o2 sensor which it is not.You would need to get it fixed it is one of the most important parts of the system both in emissions, fuel economy and how the car runs.I don't know about you guys sometimes Not important???? Like not important in that it can cause misfires and ruin a $500 cat converter, you mean that not important?
