Anyone put 2000+ amg body kit on a '96-'99 E?

I know the front bumper won't fit, but has anyone fitted the newest AMG sideskirts and rear bumper to a '96-'99 E-class? I've heard its possible to fit, but needs some sort of bracket, and wondered if anyone had any experience. Thanks.

yes you can, the front would have to be modified to fit but its a pain to do that, the sides and rear would fit with no problem

alex are you speculating, or do you have direct experience replacing these parts on a '96-'99? When speaking with Gaston from Autoclass, he told me that some brackets would be needed to fit the new amg rear bumper, and possibly the skirts. He said they were OEM MB parts. Now is this all nonsense , and they bolt directly up, or is he correct? Looking for folks that have actual experience or have compared the skirts/bumpers and seen where they bolt up... Thanks!

Lightman-I'm in the same boat (1999 E300). I finally had a 2000 E55 show up at the body shop that I use. The front wasn't even close. The rear seemed to work but as far as brackets I don't know. What concerned me was the molding strip on the 2000+ has the chrome. The top of the rear bumper seemed to slope where we have the stainless steel. What do you plan to use? The whole 2000+ rear bumper with the molding?

The bumpers are only for sale as whole pieces as far as I know. the entire thing, from below the trunk down, in laymans terms

I just emailed gaston a few minutes ago, and he replied that there are brackets required, and they are MB OEM parts.... I'm sure my dealer will be clueless but I'm still interested to find out.

Good luck with the mod. What do you plan to use for the front bumper? If you use the 2000 AMG Sides & Rear, you'll need something in the front to continue the lines not to mention the molding strip with the chrome.

I ended up with a 2000+ Carlsson Front & Rear Lip that will attach to the existing bumpers. Some mod will be necessary for fitting but that will be to fiberglass lip. The side skirts were an exact match. I should be able to have it in the shop by the end of March.

What is your opinion on having the rear wing mounted on a Diesel?

I was thinking of getting the carlsson 96-99 front bumper but have heard (from you?) that they were recently hard to locate....Still not sure, and have recently been dumping most of my excess toy money into a new atv I recently bought.....and I thought CARS had a lot of accessories!!

As far as the wing goes, thats strictly a cosmetic preference. Not on my car, but whatever works for ya!

I've located a company out of England that can still get some Carlsson parts. Birds Marketing. Front bumper for 394 pounds plus shipping. No importer in the US. I was told thats why everybody sold them off because of replacement/warranty issues. My Bodyshop said they might have a connection in Germany if need be.

You were told false information. Tirerack was the US distributor for Carlsson, however it is hard for a company that deals 99% in wheels and tires to stock and sell body kits. It's just not what their business structure is set up for. Thus, they are no longer the distributor, and a new one is being set up. We can import Carlsson body kits as well.

lightman, i have a 96-99 e320 that i put a 2002 amg side and rear bumper and i did the carlsson front bumper, theres also a auto couture bumper that wheelexperts.com has that will look even nicer than the carlsson one to me, i;m thinking of doing it later but if you want to see what it looks like just let me know, but the bodyshop did some minor changes to make that rear fit, i think with the moldings or something like that, not too sure.

USFBulls - If you don't mind sharing the place where you buy your AMG side skirts. I am also looking to buy the rear AMG bumper as well. Thanks for any info you can give.

Can also post some picture of your car when it done?

The side skirts that I was referring to are also Carlsson. The guys that helped me the most were autoclass.net. They are affliated with Wheel Tech but are located in Florida. They told me it would be 6-8 weeeks on side skirts. The 2000+ were priced around $1,000 + shipping. I didn't get a price on the 2000+ Rear bumper. The full 96-99 AMG Kit would have run me $2,400 + shipping but it also would have taken 6-8 weeks.

I paid $1,400 for the full 2000+ Carlsson kit - includes Front Lip, Side Skirts, Rear Lip, Rear Wing & Sport Muffler with dual tips.

I was referring to the AMG 2000+ side skirts were quoted to me for $1,000 plus shipping.

Sorry for the confusion
