THE DIAL GAUGE IS THE
ENGINE COOLANT TEMP DISPLAYED IN DEGREES c. The outdoor ambient display in digital pixels degrees F, sender is on the bumper above the drivers side fog light sticking out of the vent slot. You pick one up from the dealer for about 17 bucks or from www.autohausaz.com and remove old replace with new.

Well there are two. On my 98 the coolant is a gauge with a needle with 80 about the 9 o'clock position and the outside temp is on the digital display at the lower left.
If you mean the outside (ambient) temperature the sensor is in the bumper as ohlord points out. Sounds like that's what you have.
If you mean the coolant temp, the sensor is just to the right (passenger side) of the thermostat housing which is roughly in the middle at the top front of the engine.
Hope that helps some.

before just rushing out to buy this sensor, make sure its corrected installed in the front bumper trim.. I can't count how many cars I have seen with similar issues where they bumped a curb or possibly some debris knocked it out of the front bumper.. Check that first, if it's correctly installed in the front bumper trim and you still have the issue, then yes I would look at replacing it.

parts.com has
a lot higher prices than autohausaz.com so shop around.
And good caveat from above check it is plugged in,they have a habit of unplugging. You don't need to remove the bumper

Autohausaz is one of the best things I learned out here. I used to shop around but now, if they have it, I just get it there. Being in SoCal std UPS (free > $50) it is here the 2nd day after I order.

Autohausaz.com
has far more than limited supply lines if you can't find what you need just ask for a quote
Parts.com rips you only slightly less than the dealer.
