Post Wiring colors for signals

I bought a set of mirror covers with lights for my 1997 E320. Each mirror has two wires that I have wired to the column area. Does anybody know the color codes for the left & right signals. Will it affect the on board computer by stating a bulb is out? Should I run the wires in parrallel or in series with the front signal lights?

passenger side has black wire green stripe(not green wire black stripe) and driver side has black wire white stripe. no problems what so ever. but check with the wire in the trunk going to blinkers to be sure!. it took me 1.5 days to do mine slow and carefully. I spliced my wires in the rear passenger side channels only becuz it was almost impossible to find the same wires in the passenger and driver side channels, so i ran my power wires to the back. good luck!

Talking Thanks

To GMACAOST

Thanks for the info, I removed the driver side knee bolster & found the wires from the column going to an adapter on the left hand side of the steering column. Tested wires & your colors were correct. Patched in from there. Looks cool. Replacing covers & running wires & replacing door panels took me about an hour & a half. The wiring took an additional 1.f hours which included me running passenger side to driver side & replacing all panels under booth side of the dashboard knee area.

1997E320 --

How difficult was it to transfer the motors and glass from your old covers to the new ones? Did the insides fit into the new covers or did they require some juggling?

And the actual blinkers on the new covers, were they Y2K style -- the long bank of lights -- or the small blinker style?

Thanks

my blinkers have small light like 2000-02 lights, but my part was from a 95+ blinker from european model e class, standard over there earlier. i dunno if your cover will fit onto your mirror and motor, but i think i heard it can be done.... just real tight!!!
good luck!

Mirror Installation

To Fathead..

They went on with no problem. The originals covers slide off. There are no requirements to remove the mirrors. I bought two sets but I sold one car. The set is $150. I'll post some pictures soon. They are real easy to install. The only thing you have to do is have them painted. Cost me $80..

To 1997E320:

I've got a gentleman from Canada who uses this board, erikk1112@hotmail.com, who offered me unpainted covers part # WE-M0115. He sent along a picture that showed they had the long Y2K-style blinkers for $175 + $20 for the pair.

Is this the same place you got yours?

Then again, I'm considering an offer from Europe of a blinking mirror set (small blinker) complete with memory motors, dimmed driverside glass and changed connectors for $360.

Which would you recommend?

Lastly, I see we're both in the NYC area. Did you install them your self or have someone do it? I'm not too handy with electrical, nevertheless hacking @ car doors w/ air bags.

Thanks in advance for your time.....

Pictues on the way

I will send you the pictures. Mine are only the covers with the light assemblies, they slide in place of the originals. I installed them myself after I had them painted.. There are only three screws holding the door panels on my car. I removed the speakers to run the wires (another 3 screws). No need to removed the power mirror motors wiring , etc... No wires to modify that might cause a central body electronics fault. I only had to tap in to two wires by the column that does not affect the lamp control module (ie: "Left front bulb out" message on dash).
As soon as I have the photos I will post them, Probably this evening or in the morning.

Thanks for your pix.

I like the Y2K long blinkers.... I'm going with it.
