I have a 2003 C320 with 190K miles and it is doing the same thing although not as bad as the picture you posted. Checked the antifreeze and no oil present. Checked the oil in the crankcase and it is fine and the engine runs fine. So the plan is drive on.

had the same problem in my e430.it would accumalate over 1/4 cup of pudding a week.i did not open the valve covers just the one small crankcase ventilation thing on the top of the passenger valve cover and it looked fine.but what i did notice is that all the crankcase ventilation hose were hard as a rock and 17 years old.anyhow i just replaced every crankcase ventilation hose on the engine including the t that sits in the valve body/intake.i now am lucky to get 1/4 teaspoon a month.you guys are over thinking it.just replace all your crankcase ventilation hoses and you'll be fine.also lf you make short trips our thermostats are set to open at 187f.they do make one that opens at 192f i would suspect this would also give you better gas milelage.so dont overthink stuff but take a good look at those hoses and replace them easy and cheap job and cures everything from pudding to better gas milage if you do the thermostat......good luck

sorry i jut received your post on necro posting.i didn't mean to open an old thread l just thought if i posted a cheap work around to a dangerous engine condition if may save somebody's wear problems.that puddings is a damaging condition and everytime it happens they start messing with the EGR instead of the crankcase just wasting money but not fixing the problem.for some reason they think the crank case and the EGR system are the same thing

no problem but as we speak i am in discussions with trump industry's top R&D department to develop a large ribbed (for the cars pleasure) thin rubber membrane to stop the mixture of the pudding with the crankcase vapours stopping this from ruining the german car industry which i believe was caused by an isis sleeper cell infiltrating mercedes very own R & D department during the daimlerchrysler merger and then spread unchecked through the rest of the auto industry .i have heard of this pudding problem from ford to GM and other auto companies.i believe the plan was to kill the auto industry and replace it with luxury camel dealerships.

but its not oil mixed with water, its solidified crankcase vapors .its not just exclusive to mercedes benz either from ford to GM you will find the same problem on most of the cars where the oil filler opening is elevated above the rest of the crankcase allowing the vapors to rise and solidify.even vehicles with plain old pvc valve systems do it...
