For me it stands out amongst all other cars. A truely different look. A classic style that never looks old. Everyone knows it's a Mercedes. I think the W211's look too generic just like a lot of other cars on the road. Looks like the Accord, Camry etc. The W210 is Never mistaken for anything but a Mercedes Benz. End of story, a wonderful story.

I agree. Mods can always make it stand out even more. The good kind of mods I mean.

I agree. The W210 is a face lift of the classic MB style. It is classic. the W211 looks just like many other "jelly bean" shapes on the road and cannot be distinguished from any other car on the road as a MB.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Today I took my daughter apartment hunting. Went to 5 different apartment complexes. After talking to the rental agents and walking by my car to see the different apt. models, 2 of the 5 apts. we visited the leasing agents commented on my car. "Is that a 2011 or something?" Oh did I feel good. "no, honey it's 8 years old." One girl replied, "that's strange, my fathers Mercedes is only a few years old I think but yours looks like a real Mercedes."

I laughed and later told my daughter about my posting here and how I felt all the other newer E's look like Accords. She responded, "uh, I think yours looks old to me!" Damn kids, what do they know...ha.

no offense intended, but the leasing agents complemented you on the car because they wanted to sell you the apartment, not because they think your car looks 2011 model. you must be really in love with your car so you must be blinded by it. w210 is 2 generations old, so is by far a new model. you see them all over the place, w210 model is 16 years old and the nicest/newest w210 are selling for less than $10k, rest of them for few thousands less. i don't know how the new e-class looks like a honda accord to you, go look at one at the dealership and take it for a test drive and you will see how new your w210 seems now. even by driving a w211 you will see how "new" your w210 is.

I see way more W211's than I do W210's in my city. Never seen a W210 E55 in town at all.

Speaking of Accords, I remember seeing the current generation of Accord parked in a Honda dealer lot. Black sedan, Mercedes badge on trunk, sport grille with the huge emblem on the grille, MB badges almost everywhere. To top it all off, a 4 cylinder...

i actually am not the biggest fan of the 210 body style. just too lazy and
frugal to change what i already have paid off. i prefer the S series from the
early 90s. if you saw Denzel in Man on Fire...now *that's* a classic Benz.

I drove in a brand new E class. The interior is much more updated but as far as comfort and ride quality, it has nothing on my w210.

Thumbs up

When you see a W210 you do not have to drive up from the rear to read the emblem on the hub caps or the emblem on the trunk to determine what kind of car it is... The W210 looks like a Mercedes, not just like one of the jelly beans from "me too" companies.

Mercedes E Classe 270 CDI
My E classe Elegance 270 CDI

I am a new member of this forum and I agree that 124 Body and W210 are emblematic for Mercedes.Honest to be I have just bought my E 270 CDI ,W210 few days ago, this is a second time for me as a owner of Mercedes.I could choose W211 but due to the knowed brake computer problems 'SBC' and with a smaler interior and confort than W210 I have decided again for W210....01/2002 with 80.000Km on board.
The best Mercedes ever build is w210.I said.

Nothing about this car says I'm a me too. All Mercedes, you never mistake it. Heck the new Hundai looks like the 211 to me.

The Koreans love to counterfeit anything, whether it be Gucci purses or the W210. We should at least be flattered that they're imitating our 15 year old cars instead of the new ones.

I love my 210 because it reminds me of my 230 from 1967, ... the round headlights, the fenders, ... both cars, driving in style !

Actually, anything later than a W140 looks a little too modern to me. But I bought this car for reasons other than appearance.

I like the look and feel of my w210, but one thing i don't like, there is no lumbar in the seat.

I like the window/mirror controls next to the shifter, the single wiper blade, the simplicity (some technology, but not an overload), interior design, and of course the timeless body design. The seats might not massage or have lumbar (mine arent even heated), but they do have a good feel and very supportive.

I have always loved the w210s since they came out. The cold German interior, awesome hood lines, firm seats, solid ride, the way the trunk lid and arms are designed, and the way it makes power. But the one stand out feature is the grill and headlights. I also really like that when driving, you stare right down at the Mercedes Star hood emblem. Always reminds you what you are driving.

Although I sold my 210 about 2 years ago, I still love the way it looks. Truly a classic benz.
