As pjjoh1 stated....the k is for color, not brightness. 12000k is actually less bright than 6000k. 12000k would be alot more blue/purple....5000k is considered "pure white" and is usually the brightest.
I have a 6000k kit that appears almost silver, if silver could be a color of light. They are not white, but not blue either.
xenithxenons.com just released a HID kit that will actually focus the beam more like a factory xenon lens instead of a "generic" kit.
As a member of law enforcement, when everyone says that HIDs are illegal, at least in Illinois, the only thing applicable is color. Only emergency vehicle can display illuminated blue lights.
Brightness can only be enforced when it applies to failing to dim the headlights from hi-beam to low within 500 feet of an oncoming vehicle.
Poorly aimed / bright low beam lights are not enforcible unless they are "blue".
I have not seen "blue" tested in court.

BBS LM's 18's + Kics
you get what you pay for, usually speaking higher kelvin=less output, i would recommend MTEC 6k bulbs instead for brighter performance

Did this trigger a bulb warning in your dashboard?

Turn on the lights or the car?
Damn there is a lot of wiring. I'm a bit confused on how to start.

dont have to disconect battary just make sure your lights are off and there is red wire and black one, so black goes to yellow and red to black in your car. If your kit like mine...

If your looking for good HID's go to Stealthauto.com they have really good stuff and they are cheap! I have their 8k bulbs in my car and they look like 6k from up close but far away they look so great haha the PERFECT color really. Looks alot like 8k but you get 6k light quality!

I still haven't figured out how to install it. I get the general idea of it but I don't want to screw something up. And the instructions provided are pretty crappy.

my suggestion is after you do the install you might want to start driving backwards. After aiming the headlights down you may find you see the road better.
