01 E 320 Transmission goes to Neutral

Hi, this is my first post. I hope to find an answer to this problem. I just bought a 01 E320 and after getting it back from the detail shop at the dealer, I started having a problem with it shifting into neutral at intermittent times. When it happens the dash reads "N" and the rpm goes up. I found a lot of times I can move the slap stick to the right and it usually will go back to drive. I recently paid $750.00 to a MB Certified Master Tech to replace the conductor plate. That did not slove the issue. He told me that the only other thing he can think of is that someone spilled or sprayed something on the shifter and is now shorting it out. Has anyone else heard of this or had it happen to them?? Thanks in advance.....

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Detailers are

notorious for getting water and cleaning fluid ie windex in the shift module.
If the board or the range recognition switch got wet it can short out.
Go to the diy section on ww.benzworld.org w210 forum.
You could try to clean it and it might work if you still have function and it is not going into limp mode and staying stuck in second gear.
Don't buy new if it has failed.Pm me first

yes sirrr that's exactly what happen. I bet they drowned the shifter area with some kind of fluid. The question is? Did this happen before it was detailed? If so....... that's a problem.

I've been down this road before. I had to replace mine 3x till finally the last one fit perfect. The 1st one just wouldn't line up correctly the 2nd I had issues with the - + triptonic. 3rd one perfect fit

Good Luck not an easy job... ( but very easy, time-consuming )

I was able to purchase mine through Ohlord

at a great price

https://mbworld.org/forums/w210-amg/...ft-module.html

The DIY link that Ohlord is referring to is in my link
