Engine Iol Grade for 2005 MB E320 URGENT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi All,
Yesterday i got a warning message , Add 1Qt engine oil next refuelling . I stop at gas station and added 10w-30 Engine oil to it.Now message is gone.I am bit concerned whether we can add SAE10W-30 or not.
If not does it affect the engine. Please help me.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
First you
need to be in the w211 forum.
Next no harm will be done, just don't make it a habit.
Don't panic next time if you need to add a bit but get the correct type.
MB spec mobil 1 0w40 wt synthetic.
Don't fret you did not harm it.
also when you change the oil make sure to use m1 0w40 synthetic and keep that w211 as happy as a w211 can possibly be

I'm guessing you added conventional Valvoline rather than synthetic Valvoline. I'd be slightly more concerned about adding conventional oil than adding the wrong weight. Since it's only 1 quart I wouldn't sweat it much, but you might consider changing your oil a little earlier than you otherwise would.

if it says to add 1qt of oil, it's not really that big of an issue, you can still drive around for a few hundred kms.
different story if it were minimum oil level.
if you're worried about putting in the wrong grade of oil in, and it sounds like you might be coming up for an oil change anyway, just go get a full oil change done and flush out the 'unknown oil' and top 'er up with good old Mobil 1
