Side mirror install? (the actual glass mirror, not the housing)

Someone bumped the passenger side mirror on our car and the mirror fell off. I've seen a bunch of threads about fixing the loose cover and about removing the mirror but nothing about how to actually get the mirror back on. Everyone just says to put it back on like it's no big deal. Maybe it's very easy if you took it off yourself but I have no reference because it just fell off.
I see the wire clip at the top of the mirror but don't see how/where to attach it back to the motorized back. Also see the thin metal plate that protrudes out the bottom of the mirror but again, I don't see where it attaches to. There are groves in the back if the mirror that look like they need to be pused up against the motor housing and twisted to secure the mirror in place but I don't see how that is done either.

I was in a dark garage when trying to do this so maybe I missed something. Any help on how to get this mirror back on will be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks, I saw that thread including this
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210...ml#post4577982

And those are the threads I'm talking about, they just mention how to take the mirror off but not how to put it back on unless I'm missing something. It looks like I might need to remove the entire cover to get the mirror back on, correct? I'll give that a try. Thanks

must remove plastic cover/housing first. otherwise you cannot get to the
wire retainer shown in pics. there were at least two threads on mirror
(itself) take off and removal...incl pics

tips...

the round recess in the back of the mirror mates to the round plate on the motor works

plastic friction snaps mate to bayonet type fittings on both

often, you will find double stick tape used, so feel free. it helps to reinforce fitment

I must be retarded or the car is just different..i don't see the wire bail that holds the cover on and it seems like the only way it's coming off is if I cut/unlatch the spring or unscrew the screws that I see going into the door. Videos and pics make it seem so simple but I still don't see any post or thread specifically explaining how to attach the mirror.

The wire bale is on the pre-face lift cars. Yours is a face lift model with a different attachment. Since mine has the wire bale, I can't help you much.

ok, can't believe I'm probably going to have to take the car into a shop to take care of this...unless someone can clue me in on how to get this mirror back on.

slave, as nelber has pointed out, you need to reference the video which
illustrates the mirror cover removal process for face lifted models. it can
be tricky....or it can also be a 10-15 second thing. it's not as if all wheels
are easily removed if they have corroded lugs etc. but generally speaking
this is a easy squeezy thing.

if you can't make it happen, it may simply be the result of an resistant
latch or something.

see if this helps. if not, bring your car in. if the dealer charges you more
than $0-25, they're ripping you off. but at least you get your mirror back
on. they may do it gratus, and in good faith. you never know.

The dealer will do it for you gratis. This is an easy attachment as it snaps back in. There is no billable time for this. Mine took less than ten minutes total for removal and reinstall on an 2003 S210 model(wagon). Remember, the dealer wants your business and this would be a good way for them to earn it by helping you out. Ask at the service desk if someone could help you out for a minute

I stay away from dealers if I can...tried a couple more times today with no luck so I went to a good independent shop and they were able to attach the mirror in under two minutes without removing the cover. The guy used a radio removal pin (basically a straightened coat hanger) to reach behind the mirror and attach the wire clip.

Just noticed the antenna on top of the car snapped now. Looks like it's just held on with a single screw. Anyone got one for sale?

Antenna gasket kit for sale on Ebay for $31(includes the base and the rubber boot cover for the antenna lead) or through the dealer which will include the cap for about $123

Thanks, I have to check to make sure but I think I just need the cap and I saw it at mymercedesparts for ~$7. I hope this install won't be as difficult for me as the mirror was, lol
