2007 rE350 rear breaks
Hi All, I am about to do the rear breaks on my '07 e350 and would need some moral support. Has anyone done the rear breaks and are there any tips that you could give me. I read the wonderfull thread on the front breaks, thank you. You have no idea how much you helped. A great article.
Thank you, Dennis

I don't think there are any major differences between the W210 and W211 (your model) but you might want to post in the W211 forum.
The rear brakes are generally easier since there is no need to remove a portion of the caliper. Be sure to have some MB brake grease and any wear sensors. BTW, you know they need replacement because??

HI, I am replaceing them because I checked, and there is less than a 1/4 inch left on the pads. What I do not understand is the W designation. Can you expand a little for me. I am a total nubee, when it comes to the E350.
Thanks, Dennis

The E350 is known as the sales designation. It refers to the engine displacement (3.5 liters) and the model - E Class. In the factory, the chassis' are designated with a W number (sometimes others such as R for roadster). The W number such as 210 covers several years and several engine sizes including gas and diesel engines. Most MB websites use the W number and include the applicable sales designations in parentheses. See at top of this forum. Class/engine disp. can span more than one W number. For example, there was an E320 in W124, W210 and W211.
To add to the confusion there are also two VIN's. The external one at the base of the windshield and on your title and an internal one which is similar. The internal one has the W number as digits 4-6.

Thank you for the information...One more question...Do you know if my MB has a cabin air filter or not. If id does, where is it located, I looked under the dash, and did not see it. Thanks again for all the help, and sharing your knowledge.

For the W210 -
There should be two sets with 2 filters each. The dust/pollen filters which purify in coming air full time are located behind the glove box. Remove glove box insert to access the filter chambers.
There are also activated carbon filters. They are located behind the lower dash on the right side. Remove the plastic panel to access the filter chambers. They are activated by a sensor if bad air is detected (NO2, HC, etc) and can also be switched on with the CC controls.
These are both very easy DIY projects and you only need a phillips screwdriver. Search for the subject should give lots of instructions. OEM parts for filter replacement are available at online sites such as autohausaz which is considerable cheaper than the dealer. Dust/pollen filters ($20) are usually changed about once a year. Act. carbon filters ($85) about once every 4 years or longer if not used regularly.

Since you have a W211 PLEASE read the info on SBC brakes in the W211 section ...Use the SDS to bypass the SBC or unplug it BEFORE working on the brakes

Don't think
2007 E series had the SBC brakes anymore after all the problems.
However if it does all you need to do is disconnect the battery and keep the doors closed with( signs and tape warnings) while working on each corner.
