 <<< Ohlord, I could use some assistance!
Hope you read this, It won't let me send you a pm. I found an instrument cluster and I was hoping to see if you could tell me if it will fit my vehicle. As I mentioned previously my girlfreind damaged mine. There's currently no clear cover over it and there's small damage to the guages themselves, but from a mechanical standpoint, it still works.
Here's a link to the replacement part :

Here's my vin:

If you can help me, I'D REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

Unfortunately, I won't be able to do that until tomorrow or the next day, the only reason I have the vin is I had my title at my house. My freinds mounting tires on my car and aligning it. What should the production date read, if it will fit?

No plug-n-play on clusters. If you find one that WILL work, it still must be coded to your car's ECU TO work. Clusters have part numbers and versions. I believe you need one that matches both or at least is close on the version.
Many people find that the best approach is to have their cluster repaired since then it is a plug-n-play process.

Thanks
I think I know enough about Mercedes to know the model year.
Having built and raced them since 1966.(Besides it's in his profile)
What I need is the production date off the tag in the door. Dash clusters came in two variants that MY and from the looks of it the one on ebay is the later unit for 06/00 production date and from the vin as far as I can tell without PD. his car is an earlier 2000 PD model like a 06/99 2000 model. MY has not a direct hand in hand relationship to production date.
If you get the correct Vin range and model cluster from the same style model
(Wagon fuel senders are different for instance),you don't need version coding it will operate without a trip to an sds.
Understand ? I don't like waking up to being hit on the head by a nubie's hammer. If the hammer was meant for Kelley,Then that was just rude behavior taken out on a new member only trying to help.

I know all about the model year and vin info, etc. What I don't know is about version codes. I am a mechanic, just not very familiar with mercedes. This happens to be something ohlord shines at, which is why I had asked him for help. Ohlord I appreciate the information, as always your a great help. I'm going to pick my car up right now, I'll be back with the production date.

Ebay one won't do
Have you pulled the cluster to check the part number? If you can, I have a lead on a 50k mile early facelift vin less than the ebay one by far.
pm me.

Easiest way, based on your description of damage, is probably to buy a used one and move the parts you need (needles, dial printout, glass) from the good one over to the old one. So long as you keep the old circuit board, you should be good to go. That's probably easier than trying to key it or find one compatible, assuming you're comfortable with doing some surgery on the unit (it's pretty easy).

I'd have to buy a new unit to do that anyhow, so your point is mute. I am a mech, and it wouldn't be an issue to replace the externals, but there's no need for extra work that is unneeded. Anyhow, thanks for the input. I think ohlord has what I need.
