Mercedes e200 w210
buying w210 as first car

Hey guys, just got my license and looking to buy a w210 as we have one in the family and I really like it. It is a e200 2000 model. Also they are in my price range since I'm just a student

http://www.finn.no/finn/car/used/obj...nkode=34591198

What do you guys think of this one?

Theres more pics and info on the finn.no link.

I want a black one because I feel I have more options with the looks. Also want it to have amg looks, but like the normal elegance frontbumper aswell as the amg's on the w210. I was thinking about something like this:

and http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...7/IMG_5577.jpg

btw bigger engines are sooo expensive because of taxes here in Norway, thats why you mostly see people with 200 or 220cdi. 240's come and go on the usedmarket, I'll be watching everyday this summer on the net because the black ones with leather seats go pretty fast as I've called on a few ones.

Anything special I need to look at when searching for w210's? Sunroof would be a huge bonus

w210 AMG or S213
get it inspected, check the spring perches for rust and ask for service records. The car above looks nice.

Thanks. Do you know what the bottom right button is for? Don't have that in our e200. Could it be sunroof no?

If you mean the one by the shifter that is for the power rear window sunshade, nice feature.

I think it looks really good. AMG body styling and many nice options paired with a small engine to keep taxes low.

Also the E280 has heated seats and the Xenon lighting package, those are both nice features too. As is the Parktronic that I can see.

Heated seats is a must in norway Is parktronic only for the rear or front also? In the feature list in this ad it says only rear. Also, does the 280 use noticable more gas than the e200?

Parktronic is for both. You can see its front sensors in the bumper.
MB only makes sense if you can do a lot of the maintenance or repairs yourself, or have a reasonable mechanic. If you need to rely on the MB dealer, you will need to own significant rights to some North Sea oil fields. Obviously AWD is an advantage in Norway, at least until global warming really kicks in.

Services wount be a problem, we own a w210 from before and know where to get the best prices on services and some common problems etc. Dont really need 4matic yet, hasnt been alot of snow these seasons

The W210 was my first car too. It's a great choice as a first car because it's safe and pretty dependable. Plus, you have all the people here to help you

Yep, sounds nice How fast does the 280 do 0-60mph, and does it use alot more gas than the 200? Also it says its avantgarde, but the wood is from elegance or classic right? The exhaust isnt stock amg right?

It will use a lot more gas than the E200. The figures are 12.4 l/100kms for the E200, and 16l/100km for the E280.

Yes the Avantgarde should have dark wood. But this is a strange car...and nice for that. You have the full E55AMG body kit, which includes front and rear bumpers and side skirts. And the rear AMG exhaust box. But, on the other hand, it doesn't have the fully electric memory seats etc. Nor does it have leather.
