Pics of '97-'02 E Class with aftermarket sport grille w/flat badge???

I've been considering changing out my MB star with the aftermarket flat badge and installing a sport grille. I've read a couple of threads under the AMG E55 forum but it seems the pictures listed only include '03's. I was wondering if anyone here can post pics of their car that are not '03's. I'd like to take a look because it seems to me that the star on the sport grille's is a bit large? Anyone have any information on this? What grille do each of you recommend? Thanks.

There you go.

LOL Actually I'm pretty sure its not Jimmy's ride (he's a Carlsson man) I've got the same pic (see below) without the sport grille - maybe he did a photoshop job on it....I added the flat badge

If you want more pics, try the W210 gallery on this site (I'm sure I've seen one there):

http://www.mbnz.org/

I don't know what brand it is but I know Lorinzer makes them. However, the reason why I suggested you read the thread is he was actually convinced not to install one - there's many very valid reasons there which I personally agree with but then again, its always personal preference.

Alex, there's more than just the "big" problem - I won't repeat what has already been said but suggest not getting torn anymore (your ride looks great without it don't wreck it).

Let me get back to u on the thread, its one of the older ones on this very board......................or else do a search on Jimmy's posts yourself (I'm having problems navigating this site
)

Guys, here's the link:

Another with some more opinions:

Simply put, IMO it looks cleaner and classier without that grille - which suits the coupes more.

thanks whitey, its just i think it looks okay on the silver car but benz's car to me doesn;t look good on it, i think if the star was smaller then it would be nicer, but alright i'm not going to do it.

Connecting to the door switches sounds workable, as for not having the interior lights on, can't you just take the interior bulbs out (with no option to turn them back on tho')?

I hear ya. Logically speaking (with no experience whatsoever :p ) can't you hook up the illuminated door sills to the wiring before they hit the lights (if that's not the case already) or does it somehow require the operation of the interior lights to turn itself on?????

OK dude, hang on to your G-strings - there's gotto be a reason why not many people have them. You should have tried the tuners' sites in any case. :o I apologize for briefly using this thread for a private board (but it happens all the time here, we just get so involved in each others ride.... ).

Here you go, get a load of these.....in black! In know, you have a '00+ but I've attached the pre-7/99 ones as well just for the benefit of others.

In order of appearance (1) Prestige (7/99+ i.e. yours) (2) Sport (up to 6/99) and (3) Elegance (also up to 6/99) - all from Schatz. IMO, the 99+ looks a whole lot better because of its sleeker shape.

Hope that helps.

I know, just teasing. Should explore using Photoshop or other graphics software - at least u don't have to spend the bucks or look all over to see what the idea looks like. (BTW, the centre star were my creation - somehow I think Schatz does not provide the big star????)

Hey guys, I never changed my grill but was considering it at one point. I was talked out of it by a lot of my homiez in here so I decided against it. I like my hood star and don't want to go to a flat badge. As for the CL type grill, someone once said, "it looks like the car is screaming, I'M A MERCEDES" and I think you can tell what it is without the grill. JMO...

Let me blow your mind away: What about this grill?

Honestly, I dig it

here's what it says "A stylish upgrade for W210 E-Class sedans! Add a CL500 style center star to your grile! Includes full grille (not grille surround) and center star! Easy installation and adds style to your car! We recommend adding flat badges (AMG or Brabus) with this purchase."

Doc,
I think I like it too....Have you seen it installed? It seems to me that the three point star is a bit large IMO. Don't know. I'd like to see it installed to get the real feel. Anyone have pics???? Or maybe some photoshop skills??? If so, I'd prefer it on a black MB. Thanks.
