BRAKE UPGRADE

HELLO

I changed my wheels, for a set of 18" w211 ones and now my brakes look a little small, i painted them oxford and placed a mercedes-benz decal on them but they still look poor.

Id like to upgrade them, im buying drilled rotors, but im considering in changing front calipers, maybe rear too.

Ive heard that c32 - 43 calipers will fit. Im not buying unnecessary big brake kits, for 40k.

I enjoy taking my car to the track, and also driving sporty in difficult roads, I have experienced my brakes going hot and not braking anymore. I know, its a heavy car not made for track but.... maybe i can solve this a little bit.

I saw some guys in crossfire and slk forums, making this king of conversions to OEM bigger brakes. Spending not more than 4k.

WICH BRAKE CALIPERS WILL FIT MY CAR WITH A DIRECT BOLT ON?? THEY ALSO HAVE TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH MY BRAKE MASTER CYLINDERS PRESSURE.

c32 calipers/rotors will bolt on directly. Thats what I am running.

Are this bigger than the stock ones? or smaller but 4 piston?

What about w210 e55 stock calipers?

AWESOME LINK!

The C32 setup is bigger (345mm vs 316mm) and 4 piston. I cant find the picture I took comparing my stock setup with the 330mm but its maybe 1/2 inch bigger. Also 16 inch wheels wont fit over the 330mm or C32 setup. I think facelift 4-matic e430s had 330mm front rotors as well.

You could run e55 rotors and calipers but they might be harder to find and more expensive

So i have to buy a set of c32 calipers, with aftermarket 345 rotors? they will fit right? direct bolt on

If I buy cl500 or some other calipers i will have to use a set of washers, but i wont be able to use the 345 rotors but the 330 only?

c32/ CLK500 / CLK550 calipers will need 345mm rotors from a C32 and will bolt directly on. However the rotor retaining screw (the one the holds the rotor to the hub) will not line up with the hole, the lug nuts will hold it all together when the wheel is on, not a big deal but worth knowing.

cl500 calipers will need washers, longer caliper bolts and 330mm rotors from a SLK32 (they will stick out farther and might not clear your wheels) I was running 10mm spacers on the front so mine fit fine.

On the caliper itself it will be stamped what size rotors will fit. You can kinda see it in this picture its behind the brake line but it will say 330 or 345. Because mercedes used the same brakes on multiple cars you can get them cheaper off of a non-amg car and paint them to your liking.

Hope this helps

In normal driving I don't really notice the difference but when you slam on the brakes you can certainly feel the improvement. I don't track my car or autocross so I can't say much about brake fade etc. When I installed them I also installed steel braided brake lines.

I did not change the rears because when I was researching it did not seem worth it to change the rears. C32 rear rotors are 300mm your stock rotors are 290mm, and I think they are single piston.

One more thing you might want to get is the c32 dust shields, if you use the stock ones you will have to bend them slightly so they don't rub the rotors.

Well,

So im buying the calipers, the steel lines, the shields, and 345 rotors (and some miscellaneous to detail calipers)
Any recommended brand for the drilled rotors?

Do you already had problems trying to fit your spare tire? its 16 inches.... im looking maybe for a spare rim that will fit the caliper, maybe an AMG 17 spare. Any idea?

About rear brakes, the W210 stock are one piston calipers 290 mm rotor, and the c32 are two piston calipers with 300mm rotors but ventilated right? Im maybe going for the rears too, will they fit direct bolt on too?

I would get the OEM C32 rotors I think they were cross drilled. The ones I have now are from bendix I think.

16inch spare will not fit on the front. You will need a 17, or just hope you only get flats on the rear.

From what I have read the rears should just bolt right on.
