Radio stays on

I did something today that worked out well, but I'm not sure what I did.

I was swapping out bulbs in the display (putting in blue LED), and when I finished, the radio now stays on even when I turn the car off and take the key out (it used to turn off with the key). I'm okay with this new setting, but I'd like to know what I did that made it happen. I didn't see any settings for this in the manual (though it was a cursory search, so it may be in another section than where I looked).

Anyone know how I accomplished this?

I think that you should carefully reread what you have posted, especially the second sentance and then ask the question again!!

Second sentence in the post: "I was swapping out bulbs in the display (putting in blue LED), and when I finished, the radio now stays on even when I turn the car off and take the key out (it used to turn off with the key). "

Second sentence in the main paragraph: "I'm okay with this new setting, but I'd like to know what I did that made it happen."

Which of these, precisely, did you find confusing or uninformed? You seem to want more (or better) information, but have been entirely unclear as to what you want.

I've been thinking back through the steps I took last night, and there's only one thing I can think of that was different from the other times I've done this. I left the key in (at the accessory position) while I was working, so that I could listen to the radio.

Knowing some of the programming tricks I've read on here, I'm wondering if disconnecting the cables in the dash while the key is in that position somehow changes this behavior. Next time I'm in there, I'll try again and see if it reverses.

(Side note: I didn't even think to check to see if the cigarette lighter outlet is now always-on, which would be sweet.)

I read in another post that blown fuses will make odd things happen... the example was 'like keep radio on when car is off' . Doesn't make sense to me either, but it is a Mercedes; it's easy enough to check fuses.

I'll check that, though it has (with no action from me) returned to turning off when the key turns off. I'm at a loss.
