W210 MPG

Hey guys, I have a 2001 E320 4MATIC. Awesome car. I get 11.3 mpg in the city constantly. usually 23-25 on the highway. Is this consistent with anyone else's results? I love the car just not the thirst of the motor. I would love to hear about 430 + 55 mpg as well. W210 MPG-fu6m84p.jpg

I get about 22mpg average between city and highway driving. You are a 4matic so you will have lower MPG than a 2wd car...but that's kinda low I think. Might want to check tire pressure and do a tune up. Or stop flooring it at lights lol

In my RWD E320 I am lucky to get 26 MPG highway. It is pretty bad in stop and go but I've never tried to compute it. As FlatlineEF9 stated your extra set of drive wheels will affect your MPG but only by 2-3. FWIW your 0-60 times are slightly longer too but I think that is only 1 second or less.

I usually get about 19-21 in city and 25-26 on the highway. However, I'm a very cautious driver, not given to jackrabbit take-offs and the like.

Um, at 2 mph, mostly coasting downhill? No offense, mate, but I simply don't believe that. If that kind of mileage were possible with a W210, why haven't we heard of it and how it can be accomplished? Tell us how.

11 city sounds low, but everyone's city driving is different. I would think 15 or higher for the awd. What tire pressure do you run?

"W210 mpg" is, I believe, the title of the post. I can see 40 mpg with a little Renault diesel, but not the W210. I used to get over 40 highway mpg in my 190D, but not the W210. Clarity of information is always helpful.

Actually, my highest has been 57mpg...read it and weep:

This is per imperial gallon, so about 48 per US gallon. For a car just as quick and fast as the petrol version!!

James,

"W210 MPG" is the title of the thread...so, what's your problem? Am I not being perfectly clear when I say that I often see more than 40 mpg in my W210 , E320cdi, estate (as pictured just to the left of this post)???

I think the problem here is clarity of thought...and not from me. A little Renault diesel will get more than 70mpg BTW.

If you could find a long enough hill and coasted (in gear) you'd probably see far higher mpg since fuel is effectively cut off when the throttle is not depressed.

I have an uncle born on the same day as you...he lacks clarity too nowadays.

Over to you H.

I will avoid engaging in snide remarks and merely point out that you did not state your original mileage claim was with a W210, nor any other car. When you are listed as owning both a 210 and a Renault, but do not identify which car for which you are claiming mileage, that is obviously unclear.

You may see a picture of your W210 on your site, but only the Renault appears on mine. How that happens, I do not know, but perhaps therein lies the misunderstanding.

I last owned a Renault in 1982...why would you think I was referring to a car that hasn't been in production for more than 30 years on an MB forum. Your lack of grace is astounding.

I will also add that you did not state what car you were referring to either...but obviously I assumed you referred to your E320.

The day is nearly over where I sit, but thanks it wasn't too bad.

My forum name is Renault12ts...I don't drive one anymore. Just like I don't think you drive a Beverly Sharp. Nor did I assume you were talking about a Toyota Camry, a 280 SE, a 190D or a 300D .

Hello everyone
I have 1996 e320 with in line 6Cyl, I bought the car with 200K miles on it, it was in very poor shape (performance wise) Plugs were too old and one coil was working half way, air filter looked like never been touched, etc,
I replaced the plugs, all 3 coils, and new filters (air, oil and cabin) start to notice great difference in MPG ,when I got the car , the down town drive was average 12 MPG and 19 high way, now I get average of 19 down town and almost 30 MPG highway, new set of tires got me another saving on the MPG,
I think it all depends on how you take care of the car, how you drive and how you keep close eye on all the basics.
I also noticed if I use 93 octane vs, 91 that will give me about 2 to 3 extra MPG (high way).
This all I want to share with you, hope that will help

If I drive conservatively I get mid-teens in town and high 20's on the highway. Mileage goes down rapidly in town when lead-footed, spirited driving<G>. Mileage also declines >70mph highway.
