What's the Point of Removing Your Rego No. on Pix??????
! Can anyone pin point exactly what risks this is trying to prevent?

Well, first question is what is a "Rego" number? Are you referring to the license plate number? If so, the reason it is removed is because there are a lot of thieves out there that have connections at the DMV. Showing your plate number will allow them to find out where you live, if your car is registered to your home address (mine's not). Most of our rides have security systems but if they want it, they'll take it if it's outside. Thankfully mine is parked inside, guarded by my Rott. and my Glock 45 with hollows, hehehe! My roomates are also gun crazy like me, that also helps. I think all of us have insurance as well but who wants to risk losing their hard work...let them come...

A "rego" in Australia where I'd lived for many years is a registration number which is, yes, the licence plate number. However, although it makes lots of sense, your explanation probably doesn't apply in my town (information is not that transparent here) and it definitely won't work with me cuz my rides not parked in my apartment - I won't need a Glock or a rocket launcher, besides, its a firearm free city......
I just think it looks better without, hee, hee
I only get to collect replicas - Glock, S&W Magnum 357 and 44, Berretta (a chromed and a gunmetal one), Desert Eagle, Colt Govt............you name a big one, I've probably got it!

Another important factor is that even for the parts, because these cars are still" rare",it translates to less demand for them to be stolen, because there are fewer of them around, if there is a need for parts, most likely they will be gotten legitimately.
Throw in the Teleaid tracking by the satellites, the cops using the info to track it,and the hassle of trying to steal a well equipped Benz,,,I'd say let 'em try.I havent fired a shot in anger in 19 yrs.
BTW Whitey,I started with the US Marshalls,Wednesday,so now I can add some more mods, dude
Welcome back to the workforce Steve - enjoy your new job and keep the mods coming!!!!! (remember to keep us posted tho')
Meantime, its truly interesting to see the different thoughts about these cars,Im not leaving the forum, cause I learn something every day.
It's nice to get input from a law enforcement officer on this topic.
Sorry for the off-topic part.
Thank you all sincerely for your kind wishes,,Jimmyda and Dave, and all the knowledgable fellas of this fine forum
Believe me its a nice job,,no heavy lifting,,.My wifes car was victimized this summer by a couple of lil scumbags who removed her xenon headlites from her 02 Maxima.Seems,as u may know, the 02 came standard with xenons,,prior years didnt have them, but the housings are the same for 01,00,99 etc.So they rip them out just to use the igniters and bulbs and throw the housings away.
Was chatting with the Auto Crime specialists that came by to follow up,and they advised that Benzes dont get stolen for the reasons I mentioned previously.
So rest easy boys, you made a wise choice in chariots, and keep the pistolas cleaned and oiled for the burglers, and nasty neighbors( I have 2 Austrian made Glocks myself,#19,and the #26,both 9mm).
Happy Holidays from the Apple.
And a very Merry and safe X'mas to you all
Hope you don't have to pull out your pieces any time soon
The Marshalls want you to carry a .357 magnum while working, with .38 hollow points in it.Go figure.I'd say the Glock is one of the best, reliable pieces to have. You can bury it in the ground for a year, dig it up and the thing shoots.Sort of like the reliability of a Benz.
Happy Holidays Fellas.
Thanks Dave,we had insurance take care of it,,and a pal of mine in the body shop business gobbled up the deductible,so no harm, just inconvenience.
