could anyone show us pics of their cars before and after shots of their lights with these so called Xenon Bulbs? The pics that these companies shows are really misleading, cause when its actually put on, it doesn't look like anything close to it. I'm using Philips Blue Vision, and it just doesn't click with the pictures they've put on their web site (although it is way brighter compared to the regular bulbs.)

Hey Carlsson 9:

I just ordered a set of the Phillips "blue" bulbs (H6W) for my city lights. How do you like them?

LEDs are the way to go, if only we could figure out a way to slip in an appropriate resistor to stop the faulty light warning from popping on

If you are using LED,, you may want to try this Load Equalizer , or create your own. I have not try LED yet.

Load equalizer = resistor ,,, reading from the website,, it should resolve the issue of having the computer check light issue.

Which website Steve? Logically, it should work but its finding the right one with the right specs and mounting it is a real big challenge.

Dude, what do u expect from a 6W bulb?????? If you are looking to spend some money, some people do put a xenon kit in the city lights - nice but it is dang blinding........LEDs would just be a compliment, not a replicatation of the xenons.

Hi,

I vowed not to keep trying bulb after bulb, but after trying the Sylvania Silver Stars, Philips Blue Vision, and one other that I can't remember, I finally did end up with the Hoen bulbs and have been extremely pleased with them. While all that I've tried were also very good bulbs, the Hoen seemed to match the same color as the factory Xenon.

Thanks!

Phillips Blue Vision

Just replaced my "City Light" H6W bulbs with the Phillips "blue" bulbs. Did a comparison test with stock bulbs side by side. Phillips are slightly whiter and brighter than my non-xenon, halogen factory bulbs. They cost me $28.90 shipped from epimporters.com. Will see how long they last.

I saw some 10W bulbs that would fit the City Lights. Does anyone know if that would be too much for the stock wiring, housing etc. i.e. would it melt anything or affect the other electrical installations (e.g. reduce performance) if I used one with a higher Wattage???

Hello Whitey

I try the 10Watt already,,not that much brighter, and you will smoke and burn the city light housing.
Dont do it.

The reason the 10w bulb was not much brighter than the 6w is because of the current limiting resistor that is part of the city light wiring harness. In a past post, someone had a picture of the resistor. The housing itself will not melt because of the 10w bulb, it is the resistor getting hot that you are smelling.

New E, is it possible for you to post pics of your lights with the Hoen, just to see the comparison with the regular bulbs?

I know regular bulbs will never be Xenons, but for someone like me who's on a shoe string, i'd like to at least try the cheaper alternative, that will deliver an ok result.

I'm saving up for the hella Xenons and the in pro lights..hopefully, it'll happen soon. :P

Carlsson9,

Sure... I probably won't have a chance to take pictures for another couple of days, but I'll take a series with different types of bulbs. I know it defeats the purpose/functionality of the fog lights, but I also bought some Hoen bulbs for those too (H1?). I can't remember the wattage, but the bulbs on Hoen's website are higher than the stock bulbs. Since I was concerned they located some at the appropriate lower wattage.

Thanks!

Thanks New E..will be waiting for your pics with baited breath! It will be good to get some actual before and after pics instead of the ones which is probably doctored on the manufacturers websites.
