Rear wheel bolt snapped

Hey everyone,

I was installing my Brabus IIs that I just bought tires for, and a wheel bolt broke while I was hand torquing. I then tried to drill through it with drill bits to remove them like any other broken bolt, but the broken piece pushed back until it fell through the bolt hole.

Now I can't seem to find the broken piece. Any suggestions on how to get it out? It was no more than 5mm that broke off of the tip, but I'm worried that it'll cause damage to the brake assembly.

It will mess up you parking brake shoes.
Need to pull the rotor out.
Tip of bolt breaking out would indicate huge over-torque at some time. Better inspect other bolts as well.
Are those Brabus on the picture? Look exactly like my Lorinsers.
Next time buy left-twist drill bits.

But wait.
5 mm threads holding means 3 turns. Those bolts should make at least 6 turns to hold safely.
You have more checking to do.

Thanks for the reply. These wheels are actually the RH monoblocks, but I just painted my Brabus last week and got tires mounted.

I think the worst part was that this was just a test fit, since I have longer bolts coming in the mail this week. Anyways, I'll try looking for a DIY on here to pull the rotor.

not a merc
Remove the caliper.
Remove 5mm Alan cap screw on hub face of disc. Could also be a torx screw
Remove disc. Sometimes you must give it a wacky with a hammer on the hub face to shock it loose.

Looks like you've got springs finally cut.
Is this still the bumper with a notch for dead Toyota on it?

Thanks. I'm doing this today, and I hope it doesn't take too long.

Actually, I cut the springs quite a few times before going with an adjustable ksport kit, then I got tired of driving around low so I bagged it.

And insurance paid out pretty good for that accident on my way to your house! That girl in the Toyota got me a new bumper with some fresh paint, but I ended up taking it off and throwing a 99 E55 bumper on.

Shoulda texted me bro.

This happened to me too. Like others said, had to remove the rear discs. No biggie. Its actually quite simple and made it easy to do my brake conversion later.

LMK if you need help i can walk you through it.
