if you want to know about the hassles of buying a POS indo replica kit, just go over to the W208 forums and look for the thread i started about the RS replica kit.

just kidding,, seriously, though, apparently replica kits are a hassle to make fit. I've never had experience with these myself, so I really can't comment... judging from other people's reactions, it seems like its a matter of luck, so if you are willing to take the risk to save a few bucks, go ahead and get it... another suggestion would be to ask the seller for a definitive answer about fitment and what he will and will not guarantee...just make sure you know what you are getting into good luck
let us know how it turns out

Well, my opinion would be that if you have a merc, get the original. Since you've already paid so much, why settle for anything less? I know its hard to find orginal kits when they no longer make it, but to put in a copy on a Benz is just wrong.. it's not worth it buying some replicate and trying to fix it on, which will probably involve screwing into bits of your car when the orginal isn't suppose to do so. Sorry, my two cents.
I've seen it being done here in Malaysia. An original just takes 3 hours after painting and just clips on, fits like a beaut. But the replica's will take three to four days, and usually if you see them working on it, the whole car will be white due to the dusts, and they usually duct tape it to let the glue dry and all..plus additional screw holes etc etc..their so called "fitting modification.:P"
plus they shatter easily when you hit the kerb.(again, depending on the quality of the fibreglass and PU)
just my opinion not here to diss ppl who already have them now..

Replicas or original it dont make a diference, last summer i bought original Carlsson bumper and i gave the car to a body shop to put it on for me and guess what it did not fit perfectly. All the mouting spots mached but on both sides where the bumper meets the fender it did not match perfect, the body shop had to pull my fenders like 3/4 on an inch on both sides and i already had my fenders roled for Carlsson wheels. Also can someone tell me what material Carlsson bumpers are made of because some say polyutherane and some say fiberglass. I also know a guy who got Lorinser body kit on his Benz and had to do some modifications to make it fit.

strange...
my 97 W210 Carlsson kit is fibreglass. I was told that they only make it in fibreglass..in fact, Carlsson also has a patch up kit that comes with the body kit, if the fibre glass ever cracks. If i'm not mistaken, they never made a PU version of it, only the Carlsson lower lips for the post 99 W210s.
hubert, does your carlsson kit have the Carlsson logo emboss in the kit? its usually on the driver side (right hand side drive) of the front bumper and rear bumper.
mine fitted beautifully..if an original does not fit exactly, by right you should complain straight to Carlsson or even Lorinser. It'll be considered a defect for sure. anybody think otherwise?

well, my source confirmed with me that all Carlsson bumpers are made out of fibreglass..
unfortunately Hubert, Carlsson in Germany don't make stock anymore of this kit..unless there are some leftover stock in some other country.
but hey, maybe I'll come across a second hand one..will let you know..

That shouldn't happen..
one guy i knew here bougt the same carlsson kit, but it had to be adjusted on his E cause he has a previous accident, so having a damaged car made it harder for the kit to clip on just nicely.
