2001 e320 (W210) - Good battery - No Power
Greetings. I looked through the sticky but found nothing to address this one. If it is there I apologize.
I have a 2001 E320 that was a daily driver until 7/17. Since then it was parked. The battery eventually kept draining and I jumped the car, I think twice.
I eventually removed the battery and put it on a trickle charger for several month over the winter.
Today I put the battery back in and wanted to start the car but there s no power at all. No lights, like there is no battery at all.
I put the battery back on the charger to see if it was good and the battery is fully charged.
Is there a fuse I could have blown during the last jump? It has been so long I don't recall if I pulled after a jump attempt or not.
I just remember this car used to run and start just fine.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

a 'fully charged' battery requires that it be tested under load. leave volt meter on the
battery and at rest, it MAY read fully charged (over 13 volts) but while it is cranking,
it may drop drastically. sitting for long period likely resulted in sulphation or short.
so check voltage under cranking load for a reality check.

Thanks for your reply! It has no power at all after the battery is installed. Not even dome lights. Nothing.
However when I take it out it does register fully charged on the battery charger. I was wondering if there is a fuse or something there on the w210 320s that I could have blown?

sounds like fuse then. but just to emphasize, generally a battery charger is NOT the method used
to gauge the health of a battery. you're just viewing symptoms.
if it is a fuse, inspect them. one cluster under the hood. one under the rear seat. one on the END
of the dash (open door to view the hatch). a fuse map should give you a description of each fuse.
if NOTHING is functioning...no appliances or devices at all, then it's more systemic and upstream
so check the battery cable connections using volt meter

Thanks Raymand and Fabbrisd. I think it at least it had some power on it last time and was just very weak when I decided to remove it and leave it on the trickle charger.
Hopefully I didn't fry anything. I'll take the battery to a battery shop for a real check to rule out a defective battery and maybe a trickle charger giving a false reading.
After that I'll work my way back to fuses and the rest. It surprised me to have no reaction at all this evening.

You checked the wiring to make sure rats didn't get in there and chew some up? I'd be worried about that, especially if the car has been sitting outside the whole time.

Strigoi, that is an idea as well. The cables that go to the terminal looked normal so I hadn't thought of that. Something else to check if the battery turns out good, thanks!
