Question 2000 E430 brake pad wear sensor

Hi everyone, I have a 2000 E430, I am the second owner purchased 10 years ago,78k now. I have been able to do my own work thanks to all of you.. Anyway I was replacing the rear pads the other day and the pad rear sensor does not exist. I can see the bracket on right rear backing plate for it . I explored and found no trace that it ever existed. I believe the factory forgot it or maybe it was not on all models. I know someone might have a clue, Just curious. Thanks Mark.

why not just check a parts store, like TireRack and see what it shows for your year.model ?
it seems to imply fronts sensors but not rear. but you should double check. may as well
check several vendor sites and see if this is consistent

Thanks Raymond, I on looked on WIS and the wiring diagram shows right rear brake pad wear sensor, BROWN/RED terminal 29, BROWN terminal 30 at the ESP/SPS/SAS control module right rear engine compartment but on another page I see the module with terminals 29,30 going somewhere else???? I opened the cover on the module compartment and it looks like something I want to leave alone. Thank you Mark

Angry BRAKE WEAR SENSORS

I looked at the WIS and found the wiring diagram that showed right rear brake pad wear sensor BROWN/RED terminal 29, RED terminal 30 at control module right rear engine compartment. On another page I found something else to what appears to be the same terminals??? I opened the control module and it looks like something I do not want to fool with. Thanks Mark

these are generic instructions...though for w210

front
rear

have you tried viewing early vs later 210 brake pad videos on youtube yet?

i replaced front pads last year but didn't do the rears yet on my 1999 so I can't advise. i will try
to look to see if I can spot anything dangling when I get a chance

Thanks again Raymond, I could not find a definitive answer on videos. Parts houses sell them for front or rear . I guess I will have to wait and see if anyone with a 2000 E430 has a rear pad wear sensor. I am just wondering why the mounting bracket and no signs of sensor wiring?? B y the way if it helps my VIN is WDBJF70J5YB136658. Thank you again Raymond and anyone who might have a clue. Mark

1922 Ford Model T / no OBD
W210 has sensors who activate warning when they touch ground aka rotor. That makes possibility that lack of sensor, or bad connection is not detected and on newer models MB changed the design to 2 wires, who break the circuit when wear out.
Anyway, since you see the plug in the rear, why don't you try to shorten it to ground and see if dash warning pops up?
This way you will have confirmation that the system works and you can install proper sensor.

Hello again Kajtek, I have no trace of wiring for sensor, only empty bracket.. ABS wiring is there. I removed splash covers and found grommet with ABS going into body no other wires I think it was "brake" time in Germany ha ha Thanks Mark

at the top of the 210 forum (Benzworld) there is a STICKY thread on mileage reports which lists model information along
with the member name. if you are comfortable and are a forum member, you can try writing to those folks via PM
