What Brake Pads Are You Using?
For those of you who have factory rotors, what replacement brake pads are you HAPPY with? Axxis? Pagid? Textar? Mintex? Porterfield? ATE? Or ???
Dust, noise, stopping power, rotor wear, etc.

Using Mintex Red Box. Ate Super Blue fluid, factory rotors, 60K miles. About 20K on the Mintex.
Less dust, but also stopping power is poor. Perhaps the overall design of the brake system is marginal?
Been looking to upgrade brakes since I don't think pads, rotors and stainless steel lines are going to make *that much* of a difference.
The AMG C32, stoptech, and of course Brembos are at the top of the list.
Hope that helps,

I have 13K miles on these porterfields,,very pleased with them,no visable wear on rotors, dust is no longer an issue, great stopping power.Only minus is a slight squeal at real slow speed, just before stopping. I'd rate them 9 out of 10.

I've noticed that the brake rotors on the 00+ 4matics are larger, especially up front.
Is this so and is to upgrade pre-MY00+ and none 4matic w210's to these rotors? What else would be required?

Would like to hear from other Porterfield users. Can anyone tell me the best online store to purchase them? Decent service and price.

EBC "green" pads from the Tirerack.com
Brembo, solid, stock style rotors from the Tirerack.com
EBC pads are the 2nd set with these rotors. Rotor wear is good, not as much wear lip on the out edge. I have about 30k miles on these rotors.
EBC have less dust, but the feel is different than the stock ATE pads. I am not sure if stopping power is less, but pedal feel is not as precise as before.
Also, slight squeal at low speeds just before stopping when the pads are hot in temperature.
When I used the stock ATE pads, I had no squealing and pedal feel was more precise. Dust, dust, dust was the issue. I thing the dust has some lubricating properties that stop the squeal at the same time though.

PBR Deluxe. No dirt whatsoever, and car stop on a dime (I've heard other complain about braking problem when it rains, but my brake on both wet & dry are excellent, as OEM pad).

Axxis Deluxe
Anybody else out there using Axxis/PBR Deluxe or Deluxe Plus pads? Looks like they are the best all-around HP pad for street as far as dust, noise, rotor wear, etc. Price is right, too.
I have used Axxis MetalMasters before on other cars with excellent results.

I ended up buying Axxis Deluxe PLUS pads to use on the new Brembo drilled rotors. Will post results after installation.

I paid about $100 for a set of four Axxis Deluxe PLUS pads.

I think brake noise can be the result of several things, most importantly how the new pads and rotors are broken in. Also, it is a good idea to use brake lube/paste on the pad backing plates when installing.

I know it's apples to orangutangs, but with the c32 brakes and the axxis deluxe pads, the stopping is great with no noise.
Also very little dust, less than the metal masters on the porsche.

Just installed the Brembo drilled rotors and Axxis Deluxe PLUS pads and so far it is wonderful! NO NOISE whatsoever. They are just barely broken in. Stops "on a dime" and those cadmium-plated rotors look AWESOME. Will test them in the north Georgia mountains this weekend.
I have always been very happy with Axxis (Repco, PBR, etc.) pads. Have MetalMasters on my Porsche also. Had MetalMasters on my old E420. The Deluxe PLUS pads supposedly take the Deluxe product another step forward in stopping power, low noise, and less dust.
