Do these service records look OK?

I'm looking at a 2001 E320 Wagon with 44k miles on it, Starmarked. One owner, coming off lease, serviced at dealer where I would buy it from. Carfax checks out. Service records show that it received FSS servicings by owner at 15,975 and at 31,383, then again at 44,670 by dealer as part of Starmarking process. Only unscheduled was for broken cupholder and one visit for "radio electrical fault." The unscheduled stuff looks OK, but the FSS seems rather far apart. I know they run on synthetic, which can go longer, but would anyone be worried about these long intervals? I'm assuming the driver just relied on the FSS to tell him/her when to bring it in. I'm planning to keep this for a long time, and don't want the engine to have been strained before I ever get it.

Thanks for any responses.

Yes, they do seem a bit far apart. My 01 E320 usually will go between 10000 and 12000 before service due comes up. However that car may have been used on the highway primarilly and that would lengthen the service intervals as opposed to mine which is driven 80 percent local in city traffic.

It's in Winston-Salem, NC, which isn't nearly the metropolis that Philly is, so that could very well be. Thanks for the reply and GO EAGLES!!! - THIS IS THE YEAR BABY!

Also bear in mind that every time oil is added the computer extends out the next service due date (mileage date?). This is another reason, in my opinion, to just change the oil every 6 thousand miles and be done with it!

I agree with you, and would probably get the oil changed myself every 7500 miles if I bought it, but would the intervals it's had so far give you any cause for concern up to this point? Thanks for the reply

Given the car and it's service records - No, I 'd think it was okay. Only I'd take care of it better myself down the road. And I'm not just talking out of my butt: the '00 E320 4Matic I just bought was from a Lincoln dealer; 38,000 miles on her, and i couldn't initially get the service records. The FSS indicated I had 1500 miles to go until a B Service was required, but it was also 2 quarts of oil low; once I added that the recomendation for the B Service was upgraded to 3400 miles. I had the oil and filters changed right then! I thought, Why worry about it?

That's what I'm planning on doing. I just test drove it today, and it was in immaculate condition, so the previous owner must have taken pretty good care of it.

On your car you can set the intervals as then when the wrenches kick on. they like to keep them far apart to show the consumer this car is not a high maintence vehicle..... just like the lifetime fluid in the transmission.
