Hey found a new tuner

They just finished their supercharger for V6 and V8 Mercedes models, and it only takes 8hrs to install.

I have heard it is a Vortec supercharger with no aftercooler and it cost about 9k. Too much for me.

I know just checked the site my self and found that its not working, i found them in Europian Car magazine they tuned a Clk 430.

I've test driven House of Power's Vortech CLK430, provides great power delivery and clearly a contender in supercharged benzos. His Stage 1 runs a conservative 5.5 psi boost and does not include an aftercooler, however my understanding he will offer a Stage II & III for the power hungry Currently he's laying down 407 HP at the rollers

So, I'm pretty lame when it comes to super chargers... but what does the after cooler do and would one want the aftercooler or not?

An aftercooler is a heat exchanger placed between the compressor and the engines inlet. Vortech uses the term "aftercooler" as it's "after" the compressor. Aftercoolers and intercoolers are both also called charged coolers.

The primary benefit of this system is intended to employ thermal transition and deliver significant cooling with minimal friction losses.

In a typical supercharged car, boost is made at wide open throttle, and boost makes heat. Most cars use boost imtermittently and the engine is running in a vacuum most of the time. Therefore most of the time, a supercharger is generating little heat. It turns hot supercharged air into cooler air and then into the motor. The aftercooler uses air and water (like a radiator) to cool down the hot temp compressed air. Cooler air is better for motors, performance, power and HP constancy.

No worries, hope it makes sense...cuz it 1:30am US and your probably wide awake in HK :p

Just to clarify: Exchange hot air into THE water; not into water :p

At the temperatures consistent with aftercoolers used in cars, water is about nine times more conductive than air. (Think about a hot frying pan. If you want it to cool quickly, do you dunk it in water or do you wave it around in the air? Which method cools faster?..) The more conductive nature of water over air allows both a smaller design of the cooling mechanism and a more effective design.
