It's northwest of the AGW. Behind the panel shown in photo #2.

Basically the cable on the right in the picture goes to Antenna, left black goes to nav drive and red goes to teleaid. Before this splitter is installed, you just have the red cable connected, with the black cable left open, and all strapped to the body of the car. So just look for cables like these but without the splitter in the picture.

SUCCESS ALSO!!! I installed my NAV last night. Total time ~ 2.5 hours. Not to difficult. I didn't need the MOST loop cable that is stated in this thread (MOST fiber adapter A211 540 68 33). My '03 had in preinstalled. The most difficult part is locating the fiber cables behind the B-pillar driver side. You need the MOST cable diagram indicating how to insert the NAV processor into the fiber loop. And like the original post stated removing the trunk paneling is the longest part

I'm enjoying NAV today. Its like i have a new car (COMAND upgrade 2 weeks ago) from my old Audio 50 tapedeck, and now NAV. Just follow this post, and your good to go.

A big thanks to Steph280 Without his guidance, this would not of happened!!!!

John

Yes I was on Siennaclub.org. I also did the nav retrofit over there. That Toyota nav is lightyears ahead of the COMAND, which is one of the reason we chose Sienna over E320 when going to unfamilar area. Still one of the best investment in that van. Oh no, did I call it a van?

John: Glad to be of help. Congrats on the install.

Nav Unit Installation

steph280, thanks to your text and photos I was able to have my nav unit installed without a problem. The unit was installed by a local auto radio shop and their technician did the job in 30 minutes for 50 dollars. I purchased all the parts from the same shop you suggested for 250 safe the GPS DVD drive, which I bought on ebay. My MB dealer wanted 250 for the job and more than 2 hours time. The Nav unit was installed in my 2005 E500 sedan, which was prewired. The radio Tech. did a beautiful job.

I just returned from my local MB shop, they did all of the "version coding" and now i get all visual prompts in the MFD, they did all the work in 30 mins. They knew exactly what to do. Very nice, this rocks.

I have been playing with the NAV+5 code, and changed the voice to the preferred "British" voice, but it is only temporary. Once the car is powered off, it goes back to US voice.

Am i correct in my thinking that if I switch the COMAND to W211_ECE the British voice will stay?

Do you mean the antenna splitter? if so, then YES, you still need to split, one end goes to NAV the other TeleAid

E500 4-Matic Wagon, 330xi, 911C2
Thanks to steph280 and this post I installed Nav in my '05 E500 Wagon. The following are the parts with prices.

Part Number Description Price
220-870-35-89 DVD GPS Processor $345.00 (from Ebay)
210-820-24-89 or 6-7-82-3111 GPS antenna splitter $37.50
211-540-68-33 MOST fiber adaptor/CABLE HARNES $11.62
211-545-54-40 or 211-545-79-40 Base bracket $35.62
211-545-63-40 Processor bracket $21.37
910-143-006-001 Screw $0.67
910-112-006-003 Nut $0.90
BQ 6 46 0209 NAV Software DVD 2005.3 $40 (from Ebay)

Total $492.68

A211-690-21-25-9C39 Left rear trunk panel for Wagon $157.50

Grand Total $650.18

Notes:

1) Check with MB dealer if the parts will fit your car before ordering. I ordered the parts for 2005 E500 Wagon.

2) The DVD processor was bough on eBay as a rebuild (factory sealed in box) . According to my research the following part numbers will work in W211. 220-870-35-89 is the latest model, but the older ones will work.

211-820-06-85 replaced by
220-820-60-85 replaced by
220-870-35-89

3) All other parts were purchased from Duval Motor Cars (MB Dealer)
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=213951
Duval discount is about 25% off MB list prices + 10% for shipping.

4) I ordered 210-820-24-89 GPS Antenna splitter but received 6-7-82-3111. Also, ordered 211-545-54-40 Upper bracket, but received 211-545-79-40. I don’t know if the later part numbers are newer replacements or parts specific to the Wagon. Again, check these for your VIN before ordering.

5) Navigation Software DVD part numbers. Ebay prices vary from $15 to $150 depending on version.

Version Part Number
2006.2 BQ-6-46-0223
2006.1 BQ-6-46-0216
2005.3 BQ-6-46-0209
2005.1 BQ-6-46-0206

Me too

Guys,

I intend to do this install and went to the dealer in seach of parts. The part number that they gave me (6-7-82-3253) is called the Nav installation kit. The parts guy said this included everything that I need for the install. Can anyone verify? If I were to piece the package together, does the Nav processor listed above (220-870-35-89) work for MY 2004 or do I need a difference processor?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Here are the part numbers for install kits from MB Dealer:
6-7-82-3251 – Navigation System for Sedan - List price $1,474.00
6-7-82-3253 – Navigation System for Wagon – List price 1,445.00

These kits do not include trunk panels or navigation DVD software. Even after a discount, these kits are too expensive. Try to find the Navigation DVD processor on eBay and buy the rest of the parts from the dealer. You can also try calling Becker at 201-961-1399 (http://www.beckerautosound.com) and ask if they have rebuild processors for sale. Becker is the manufacturer of these units. Part number 220-870-35-89 should work in you’re my 2004, but check with your dealer to be sure.

DVD Navi in my E220CDI 2002. W211 ECE model.

Hi
Thanks for sharing information on installing DVD navi, it has been most useful and i really appreciate this forum. I have tonight installed the DVD Comand and the navi processor, but have run into one serious problem. I can`t find the power cabel to the navi processor. Where should i look for it?
Do i need to buy an additional cabel, and where do i connect it?

Go back to post # 6 on this thread and you will see the picture of the harness that should be on your car. If it is not there, then it may not be prewired for navigation, from what we all know, early builds of 2003 (starting from late 02 to about March of 03) are not, but I may be mistaken.

Good luck.

Navi

Well, i do not find the prewires, but i have the AGW so the connection to MOST should be fine. I also have a phone factory installed, so the GPS antenna is there.
It should be possible to make a power connection, but i just cant find out where the Navi processor takes the power from.

Navi

I bought the navi processor power wiring harness A211 540 91 09 98, and connected it to the SAM unit in trunk. The navi processor now takes the map disc, and my Comand lights up (is not black anymore). Radio, telephone, cd-changer, DVD movie player now works perfectly.

But,.... when i put the DVD disc in the processor in trunk, and push the NAV button on my Comand, i get the message "No DVD, please insert navigation DVD (boot)" . What can be wrong?

Please help !

Kalle

It was a wrong DVD that caused the problem. Now, i have another one. My HU in dash shows map information and i get voice instruction on when to turn etc. But the map shows my position to be in Hamburg Germany when i am in the very north of Norway.
I guess its something wrong with the GPS. Maybe the antenna. Do i have to use the pre installed phone and GPS antenna or can i just connect another one to the nav processor?

I can confirm that #1 is the optical cable and #4 is the antena cable. Just find the power cable and that should be enough. You will need to remove the plastic bracket that holds #4 and replace it with the splitter. also, I had to remove the plastic panel that is holding the emergency triangle to fit the DVD bracket.
