After five months and false labor in December, my new E-500 was delivered today!! Trial by fire: Immediately drove 115 miles to its new home. Arrived safely but this is not recommended given all the distractions of a new E-Class. Dealership used one of the oldest sales tricks to insure completion of sale: parked the new car in front of the dealership so that I immediately saw it upon arrival, with the sun reflected off the chrome and metalic paint.
Initial impression: a dream to drive, but much to learn. Many hours ahead sitting in the garage reading the thick manual. I feel so inadequate and helpless now.
More observations to follow and I will post some pictures as soon as possible.

PS: Dealer added a great extra: Plastic mats over the beautiful factory mats.

Congrats! We have the plastic mats too. Great since we have teh stone interior and it gets dirty way too easily.
Do your rear mats get squished if you move the front seats back?

Congrats and best of luck to you...
At least it was your car that was out there when you drove in. When I went to pick up my E500 last June the shiny car out front was the wrong car! Mine still had the white plastic all over it and had to wait another day.

Checking on the mats will be one of the 374 things that I will learn about during my first full day of ownership. I have recently retired so I will have plenty of time to sit in the garage with the 502 page mannual.

My dealer wanted me to bring in the MBUSA survey and make sure he got all excellent marks as trade for the plastic mats. No biggy because the guy IS excellent. The plastic oder from the mat does get rid of the new car smell rather quickly though.
