Is the Logic 7 HK sound system

worth it? I'd like some opinions & thoughts with those familiar with the base and HK stereo systems. I didn't see it being worth the money as I do not care in the least about having a 6 disc changer, nor did it sound anything like even a modest aftermarket addition.
Thanks in advance

Lightbulb Logic Seven

JWS3: I have a new E with Logic 7 and I find it to be a very good investment. The sound is quite good, as I hear things in the car that I do not notice with my home system. The CD changer+the single disc allow you to easly play a new CD while "storing" six you like to hear over and over.

Is it the best in a luxury car, no but for $1,000 it is worth the price. After market units would look after market and cost a lot more.

I purchased it without testing it, just based on the above analysis and I am not sorry.

In tune in San Francisco

Well if your going to compare it to an "aftermarket" system, then it's probably not for you.... If you want to compare apples to apples and compare it to other "stock" systems found in other makes, then I think its top rate....

It is amazing.. I do not listen to a lot of low end bass type music.. Mostly loud rock, so it is perfect. I just find it a bit bright, so the treble is 3/4 down and the bass 1/4 up and it is centered towards the back.

It is the ONLY upgrade in the car that I could not live without..

I find it adequate, and better than any other stock system I've owned. For a change it appears the stock speakers can actually handle the power the rest of the system can put out without serious distortion. Bass isn't especially impressive, but if you listen to bass-heavy music on a regular basis, probably no stock system is going to satisfy you. The silly "bass/treble" adjustments are a let down, but not the end of the world.

I tend to install fairly good systems in all of my vehicles. My current preferred combo is Pioneer head units, Xtant amps, MBQuart speakers, and JL Audio subs; a setup I've used in two of the five vehicles we presently own. My wife's car has a pretty elaborate system pushing about 1000 watts. And honestly, I doubt I'll change the L7 in my E. This comment probably sounds more negative than it is, but I consider it "good enough".

I do think the in-dash 6-disc changer is a pain in the butt to reload, though. I prefer cartridge-based changers (or better yet, MP3 players, like I've had in all my other vehicles for many years -- MB is really behind the times here), but even the in-dash loaders I've seen from other manufactuers (er, including Dodge/Chrysler) are much easier to load. And don't even get me started on how it's positioned behind the gear shift...

Still, I probably wouldn't hesitate to get it again.

Best stock system I've ever owned. I prefer it to the Mark Levinson sound system in my wife's Lexus GX-470, which IMHO is a big disappointment considering its high-end reputation (and yes, I know HK and ML are owned by the same parent).

From THAT perspective, I actually find the HK system to be very good. HK's quality has suffered in recent years (and I'm not convinced it's entirely due to the change in ownership) so I was a bit concerned about how it would sound...

I agree with everyone here. The HK system is top notch for being stock.
