Does Your Drive Dynamic Seat Poke You In The Back?
Every now and then, usually 3-5 times over a 10 minute period, the seat, usually the side bolsters, will sort of poke me in the side. Frequently when stopped at a light, however not always.
VERY annoying.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks,
David

Yup.. I have similar problems w/my DDS where the side bolsters will seem to inflate by themselves w/what sounds like quick, consecutive air bursts when the DDS is OFF.
However, this doesn't happen nearly as often as the front-part (closest to the pedals) of the seat bottom and the lumbar support of the seat back.
I tried to get this looked at by the dealer several times... each time they "could not replicate the problem". No surprise there really, as there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why it happens.
My SA advised that next time it happened, I should drive immediately to the dealership so that the technicians could check out any possible fault codes before they get cleared.
In the end, I'm just learning to "live with it". What seemed like a "cool" option when buying my car, now in hindsight, is turning out to be a POS option that will undoubtedly end up malfunctioning for sure once the warranty expires, and will no doubt end up being useless dead-weight in the car later in the future.
Yeah Benz!

Do you guys also have the venitlated seats as well? It could be the massage function??? The E350 and E55 do not exhibit this behavior at all. It could be a bad Drive Dynamic module?

I have DD and ventilated. Same problem with front thight support. Not side bolsters. However, on really hot days (i think) DD will just stop and I can not even adjust the bolsters. Almost religiously tho, the thigh support inflates fully when i turn it on and then several times when driving after putting it back... and no, dealer " can not duplicate."
It bothers me a bit, sometimes more than others. This is one of my last "unresolved" issues.

I have DD and ventilated seats, in an 05 E500 and mine behave exactly as Brav described. The dealer (Fletcher Jones) said it was "normal behavior" and that the seats were simply adjusting themselves.

How well are these gadgets going to work at 10+ years old or 150K miles?
This is why I avoid these gadgets.
Those seats will feel really special when they break in some gimp position 5 years from now.
Maybe on a lease car, otherwise you are better off to avoid some features.

To bad....... Your missing out on one of the best if not the coolest features of this car because of what MIGHT happen. So far at over one year of ownership and over 18,000 miles, my seat have operated absolutly flawless.
Better yet, with a 100,000 mile warranty and or six years to go I'm still not worried even if they did take a **** on me....

Could it possobly be the massage function and you have not got the settings adjusted properly?
Or if it happens at traffic lights......... perhaps the lights have changed to green and the seat is giving you a gentle 'nudge' to wake you up! (sorry about that)
Have a nice day,

But I have nightmares about fellow W211 owners being swallowed up by some evil possessed benz seat, kinda like little shop of horrors...
The cuplrit(s) are the MB workshops that are too lazy(busy) to find these problems.

Those who are also having the problem: when was your car built?
Mine was completed the first week of August. The seats were probably built around the time of the strike.
Was you car built in the May-August 2004 timeframe?
Thanks,
David
P.S.
Dealer did nothing during the service (they 'checked'). So I am escalating. Who knows, maybe I can establish a 'class'.
