2011 E350 Cabriolet..White and Almond Mocha
For my E Class forum friends

I just posted my final R500 Package with a build date of September 7th on the W251-R Class Forum. I really enjoy driving my E but time marches on. If you have any questions just ask on either forum.

For me at 73 years of age it is "time marching on." As the saying goes (paraphrased) "you can drive it now or maybe not drive it later." :-))))

I deleted my post because, upon reconsideration, it seemed a bit snarky. But while you've got a lot of good years left, you're probably (I could be wrong) not fitting child seats in the E-Class on a regular basis, unless it's for the grandkids. So, if the R-Class is a matter of true love, not just practicality, then I say "go for it" regardless of age - which you obviously did. Congrats.

Nevada, my 75 year old mom is enjoying her new E350.. so what's wrong with a 73 year old guy getting a new car? Mind you, she drove her last car (a C240) a total of 9400 miles in a period of 3 years! God bless her!

Yeah DWP, true love. Have been following the R from concept to production and there is just something about it I wanted to have. I had driven E wagons before and this just offers a little more. Should be a blast as big as it is and with a V8...I have not had a V8 since my '81 SL I don't think...:-)

Thanks Sam...I only have 8700 on my 2003 E but there were reasons for the low mileage. With the R I intend to "cover the West" during the next couple of years.

Hey LIONHEAD...good to hear from you. You will see so many pictures you will probably wish the CF Card would go bad..:-) That Canon is going to get a workout!

What are your feelings on the new S? I think it looks fantastic inside and out. After a few years with the R I might try my first S Class...

When the first pics of the S came out I thought it looked ugly and alittle too conservative(I think I posted on the W221 section) but it's growing on me. My dealer said the S will arrive in the U.S. in January (2006) as a 2007 model. Won't get 1st year production and hopefully 4matic will be available by the 2nd year. It seems they copied some of the styling cues off the BMW 7 series (ie. trunk/IDrive/Interior Layout) which isn't a bad thing but thought they could have been more distictive. I just hope it looks even better in person than the pics.

Here's a good post showing the last 3 generations of the S Class:

I will be interested in seeing the new S in person also LH. I think the critics will slow down once they see it up close.

My E Class is running like a jeweled watch and I kind of hate to depart with it but I am excited about the R Class. Had a delay come up yesterday. MBUSA said that ALL R500 orders for September are Forced Factory orders with absolutely no changes. So that means my build date is now the first decade in October meaning I will get it late that month. I messes up my trip east since I was planning to pick the car up at the dealer in Gulfport MS and then drive on further east to visit family and friends. But cool weather driving and coming home through Colorado in November may test the 4 wheel drive a little...:-)
